My experience of swimming competitively from 7
to 14 and then coming back to swim meets after a break of 21 years means
that I can understand the issues faced by new swimmers and returning
swimmers.
Coaching qualifications - British ASA Level 2
Swimming Coach / Teacher. Working towards British ASA Level 3 Club Coach in
Swimming. Starting British Triathlon Association Triathlon Coaching course
soon.
Coaching Brecon Swim Club - Age group 7 to 27 years old.
Coaching Brecon Multi-Sport Club (triathlon club) - Age 17 to
45 years old.
Swimming background - club swimmer from age 7 -
14. Then swum independently for 21 years.
At age 34 I started to seriously rebuild my swimming stroke.
I joined a masters swim club in Vancouver, Canada, at age 35. This was
coached by Paul Cross a national level Canadian swim coach and a very
successful triathlete.
Through info from total immersion, many swim books & videos,
video-taped stroke clinics and most of all input from my coach. My stroke
count improved from 20 strokes per 25m length to 13 - 15 strokes per 25m. My
time has come down by over 25% in the same period.
I started competing in National and Local Masters swim meets
from 1999 and have placed well in my events. I swim Freestyle from 50m up
to 1500m and longer events, Backstroke, Butterfly, Breaststroke and
Individual Medley. |
