"Trek did well with the design. Where Trek fails is the customer service and their silly rule that you must go through a dealer to get parts. When you attempt to work with Trek directly after repeated C.S. fails at the dealer, Trek refuses to help per their agreement with the dealer. I love the Speed Concept, but next super bike may not be a Trek as it is way too tedious when you want a part. "Dutchcrush

Like shoes, some brands fit some better than others. I find the Trek fits my height wonderfully

custom color = an appearance issues are on you

it took more than two months after purchase to get the right part as the dealer kept ordering the wrong part and you are not allowed to order the part yourself. you must go through the Trek dealer. calls to Trek HQ were useless as well. They repeatedly promised to "look into it" and call me back. Six phone calls, no call backs. The entire racing season went by without the bike because of Trek and Trek dealer issues in simply putting a longer stem on the bike.

It is a beautiful machine that is absolutely divine to ride. It handles bumps well, keeps me moving fast, has custom color, and did I say, divine to ride?

changing the stem is very expensive and rather complicated. If you want to change the stem, you are not allowed to order the part on line. You are required to go through a Trek dealer. My trek dealer was less than normal in the IQ department and ordered the wrong part three times. They would call and tell me, part is here, bring the bike in, only to call me after the bike was dropped off to say, uh, we ordered the wrong part again. The bike store was a 40 mile one way trip. It's a stem, but they kept reordering the same one. Trek requires you go through a dealer "to make sure you get the right parts" but do nothing to help when the dealer is the problem. It took three months to get the stem switched out and the part itself is $250. The initial setup will seriously try your patience. The first year of ownership, the whole racing season went by with the bike sitting in the garage or the bike shop with no stem. They finally had the bike to me in August, 6 days out from my IM. That was not the time to switch to a new bike.
