Event warmup:

couple of mins of jogging
Swim
  • 24m 49s
  • 1408 yards
  • 01m 46s / 100 yards
Comments:

I started off great until around 150m I was taking a breath and turned to sight and breathed in a "boat load" of water. Had to stop for about 30sec to catch my breath and cough up the water.
Also had trouble sighting because a good portion of the course I was looking into the sun.
I held back a little on the swim since this was my first Oly distance.
What would you do differently?:

Need to work on sighting.
Transition 1
  • 03m 27s
Comments:

I am not that high tech yet (ie. I still put my shoes on in the transition area then run with my bike. Overall I guess my time was good. I need to work on getting my wetsuit off while putting my helmet on.
Had two E caps and one power gel.
What would you do differently?:

Eventually invest in shoes that I can leave on my bike.
Bike
  • 1h 15m 58s
  • 24.9 miles
  • 19.67 mile/hr
Comments:

Again because this was my first Oly distance and my running sucks, I held back some on the bike. Also this was my first time using a bike with aerobars...and it felt great. Lost a water bottle about 10 miles into the ride when I was trying to put it back in the cage. Oops!
What would you do differently?:

Probably push my pace a little harder next time.
Transition 2
  • 01m 51s
Comments:

Not much to say here. Felt it went pretty smooth.

Had two E caps and one power gel
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Run
  • 1h 00m 26s
  • 6.2 miles
  • 09m 45s  min/mile
Comments:

well well well..here is my I can stand to improve. My running has always been my achilles heel. Having said that I did not bonk and was able to keep a steady pace. At each water stop I would walk for about 20 to 30 sec while I had on cup of water and one cup of gatorade. It took about two miles til my legs felt undead from the bike leg. Luckily I was able to finish strong and I did not have any cramps.
What would you do differently?:

Definitely need to work on my running. I plan to increase my mileage and hopefully do two marathons over the winter. Also need to lose weight 195lbs is too much to carry around for a 6'0 triathlete dude.
Post race
Warm down:

Gatorade and water. Walked around with Jen and the dogs for a while.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My run...need to put in more miles.

Event comments:

Excellent well organized race. If your in the NE during Aug. you have to do this race
