Comments:

2 mile run with strong winds and 2 hills out and back. Just an easy warm up. Stopped and used bathroom right before end of run so wouldnt have to wait for bathrooms in T1

Good bike and was averaging about 21.5 righ up until before the last turn of the race .25 before the finish line. Front tire got stuck between the shitty streets of New Orleans and I flew over handle bars going 22.5mph. Happened so fast I didnt even know what happened. It was right in front of a police officer who was quick to help me up and kept trying to call for an ambulance. Cracked my helmet right side, shoulder, forearm. knee, and a little of hip destroyed with deep road rash. Took about 5 weeks to heal. I checked for broken bones and didnt seem to have any. I inspected my bike as this is what I was really worried about. Some scratches but it survived. I hopped back on and easily pedaled pathetically to the bike finish feeling like i was dying.
Transition 2

Comments:

slugged over to rack and inspected wounds. Thought if i should go on or not. But either way I started going through the motions of getting ready to run. I was starting to tighten up and if I stopped moving it would really started to hurt. So i just took off running from the adrenaline

Comments:

Started off ok. First lab was good. 1st lap 58 minutes. I was satisfied that I was on point and had some changed to go sub 2 hours. However around mile 10-11 it just got too difficult to keep going. Stopped at a water stop and just felt good. Started going but I knew I would need to stop again. Last mile was stupid at around 15min/mile. Added 7 minutes to second lap. Mostly just done on the last 2 miles. Still best run time in half iron distance
What would you do differently?:

not wreck
Post race
Warm down:

straight to medical tent to get medical aid. Weird that the guy next to me had the same injuries.
