Overall Rank = 279/544

Age Group Rank = 7/14
Pre-race routine:

Up at 0400, departed Hope Mills at 0430, arrived in New Hill (race site) at 0610. Staged bike, laid out gear after checking in. Got marked and checked out the water.
Event warmup:

Did a lot of walking, that's about it.
Swim
  • 19m 5s
  • 750 meters
  • 02m 32s / 100 meters
Comments:

Once again, the 750m swim was not. It was longer. The swim was pretty good all things considered. I began with freestyle as usual and about 50-75m in, I switched to breast stroke and that's were I remained until the end. Didn't hydrate nor did I swim on my back at all.
What would you do differently?:

Hit the pool more and spend time in the water.
Transition 1
  • 01m 37s
Comments:

Sockless saved a ton of time again. Not as good as my last of 0:48s but fast enough to take first in T1!!
What would you do differently?:

Run faster! T-times are definitely picking up since I went sockless. Now if I could be just a bit more consistent. Nearly a minute longer than my last race, not here. BUT, that's because a the courses are structured differently. I'm satisfied!
Bike
  • 57m 41s
  • 17.5 miles
  • 18.20 mile/hr
Comments:

Pushed the bike hard. I passed around 15+ riders. Blew by some like they were sitting still. Got some excellent speed on a few of the down hills.
What would you do differently?:

Work hills, if I could find some..
Transition 2
  • 02m 14s
Comments:

7th of 14 in T2. Dropped my T2 big time. My last race was 1:07, This was twice as long even though I had a running dismount. Don't know why it took so long. Perhaps it had to do with me being at the opposite end of the Run Start. Need to check my 310XT because I only used it for the run.
What would you do differently?:

Not sure. Perhaps take it easier on the bike.... ?
Run
  • 38m 21s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 12m 22s  min/mile
Comments:

Hamstrings were a bit tight following the ride even though I I popped three salt tabs plus. Off road is a bit confusing. Glad I ran with the 310XT to watch;.
What would you do differently?:

Need to hit the road more often. Also need to run off road prior to this race next year in order to prepare belter.
Post race
Warm down:

Drank a Sprite and a water, and ate a piece of pizza. Walked a .3/4mi back to the truck.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Training, or the lack thereof.

Event comments:

Looking forward to registering for this race next year for my fourth time. Recommend this race if you are considering.
