Event warmup:

Stretching
Swim
  • 24m
  • 804 meters
  • 02m 59s / 100 meters
Comments:

Not a bad course, had to fight only three incomming waves. Was able to stay in the bulk of the pack of my age group division and even pass some of the "younger" athletes (WOW... great feeling. Sorry... it is nice to be in the pack instead of at the back). Was hoping to get a little body sufing into the beach, but could not time it right. The jog up the beach was more of a walk until I caught my breath. Then up eitht or so stairs to T1.
What would you do differently?:

This was my first ocean swim course. So I guess more time in the ocean will better my technique and timimg.
Transition 1
  • 03m 32s
Comments:

A much better T1 then before. Used both Body Glide and PAM to insure the wetsuit was off in a better time. Haad my trisuit under my wetsuit again.
What would you do differently?:

Need to purchase bike shoes to better this so I can decrease my time in getting into my current shoes.
Bike
  • 21m 1s
  • 6 miles
  • 17.13 mile/hr
Comments:

Overall really good course, a short little jaunt around RB it seemed.
What would you do differently?:

Maintain a better profile one the bike, need to get my truck down more.
Transition 2
  • 02m 43s
Comments:

Once again, better then my first tri.
What would you do differently?:

Need to purchase speed laces for the shoes to get the time down even more.
Run
  • 21m 7s
  • 2 miles
  • 10m 34s  min/mile
Comments:

Took the first 1/4 mile to get into my groove, but then kept a steady pace througout after that.
What would you do differently?:

Need to run on the streets more often then the treadmill to better my runs at this point.
Post race
Warm down:

My sister and nephew were there to see this one along with my partner. So after the finish line I had a leasurely walk to the food area and a walk through the vendor area. Much nicer then my first were I felt overheated for about two hours after the event.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

This is by far my best race so far this season. Need more real world training to get better overall.

Event comments:

This was my second tri of the season and my first Sprint distance. I was proud to see my numbers and thought I was much slower overall. But it looks like the time I set for my goal was good. I wanted to finish in 75 - 80 minutes and I was psyched to see me coming in 02:37 ahead of goal.

Course: Two loops total. Pretty much flat with a slight downhill grade up to the first U-Turn, then it was back up the grade until flat again till the U-Turn at the other end. At the end of this turn was a wicked hill that took the wind right out of you. Then all over again for the second loop.

Course: A little weird for my taste. To run through the pier and the surrounding outdoor mall was a real strange experience. Nice course nonetheless, flat with some stairs, only five, and a good number of people to keep you on track.
