Pre-race routine:

I don't really have a pre-race routine, I'm still developing it. I pretty much showed up, freaked out & ran around like crazy getting ready. My 8 year old son was competing in the kids tri, so I wanted to see him do teh swim - it was crazy!
Event warmup:

2 minutes before it was time to start the swim, we got into the water and got ready to go :)
  • 00m
  • 400 yards
  • / 100 yards

The swim was sooo hard! I panicked, so I didn't do very well with the swimming portion at ALL!!! But I completed it!!!!
What would you do differently?:

Everything! I kept flipping onto my back and just kicking from my back, because I couldn't breathe. I felt like I was going to throw up, because I was panicking and hyperventilating. I need to train more in the water! I also didn't do nearly the freestyle/crawl strokes that I planned....
Transition 1
  • 00m

I was trying to watch for Tyler to come in at the same time, so I was kind of over-stimulated. I made it through though....
What would you do differently?:

  • 00m
  • 8 miles
  • 0.00 mile/hr

I liked the ride - it was my favorite part of the race! I got a little "saddle sore" so I'll have to get more used to riding the bike, but I really enjoyed it. I had a grin on my face the whole time!
What would you do differently?:

I dunno - probably not much :)
Transition 2
  • 00m

When I got off the bike, I had to run it to my rack - and I had jello legs, so it was kind of hard, but that's it. I remembered to take off my helmet, so that's cool!
What would you do differently?:

  • 00m
  • 2 miles
  •  min/mile

It was only 2 miles, but it felt pretty hard, because I'd already done the swim and the bike....I walked fast on a couple of the uphills - I was exhausted by that point!
What would you do differently?:

I was so out of it/ I accidentally put my camelback water thingy on for the RUN instead of the BIKE. What a geek! When I got to the 1/2 way turnaround point I asked if they could take it back to the main entrance... They did - and the second half was so nice! My two running mates (Sandy Price & Shannon Van Zant) caught up with me - and we were able to run in together!!! I told everyone that I passed what a good job they were doing - it was so nice!
Post race
Warm down:

I walked around for a few minutes after, that's about it.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

need to train more, lose weight, etc.
