Overall Rank = 31/941
Age Group = Men Individual
Age Group Rank = 4/85
Pre-race routine:

woke up at 4:45 and had some coffee and toast with peanut butter.
Event warmup:

Not much. Many short walks to the port-o-potty
Swim
  • 13m 29s
  • 875 yards
  • 01m 32s / 100 yards
Comments:

This was an average swim. I did not do a great job drafting but did have some guy on my feet the whole way so I am sure he was happy. Didn't seem to get into a good groove as the water was quite warm.
What would you do differently?:

Did not have much pool time lately so this is about what I expected.
Transition 1
  • 01m 53s
Comments:

Had problems getting one of my shoes on but other than that ok.
Bike
  • 33m 5s
  • 11.2 miles
  • 20.31 mile/hr
Comments:

Not a bad bike for me especially considering the limited time on the bike lately. I pushed it pretty hard and really did not have but 1 or 2 people pass me.
What would you do differently?:

ride more
Transition 2
  • 01m 22s
Comments:

I decided before the race that I would take time to put on socks for the run. I usually run the sprints without but tore my feet up at pflugerville so I wanted to eat the seconds here and save the pain for later..... and I am glad I did. I went down on one knee to put the socks on and my right thigh cramped up big time. It is still causing me pain today and sure didn't do me any favors on the run.
Run
  • 21m 31s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 06m 55s  min/mile
Comments:

The run started out well and I passed a few guys in the first mile. One of the 2 passed me back and my thigh really started to cramp up. I walked through the 2 water stops as I was over heating pretty good. I probably could have pushed it a little harder to pass the other guy again but was having some issues. He probably had more gas than me anyway :)
What would you do differently?:

More bricks.
Post race
Warm down:

cold towel, cold water, and cold beer

What limited your ability to perform faster:

lack of training more than anything. this season has been very average as I have not been able to put in the miles on the bike since starting a new job. On top of that, I am just now getting back on track after tearing up my ankle at the muddy buddy. Pretty good considering.

Event comments:

another great J&A race.
