Pre-race routine:

Begged to all the saints for race cancellation, I'm a chicken when it comes to rain. Ate a couple of toasts and went on my way.
Event warmup:

I went to the porta-pottie and did my "warm up", at least it felt warm inside that thing. I cheated and stayed in there for like fifteen minutes to stay dry.
Swim
  • 44m 33s
  • 2111 yards
  • 02m 07s / 100 yards
Comments:

My worst swim in a while, I guess three months out of the pool are taking a big toll on me.
What would you do differently?:

TRAIN.
Transition 1
  • 03m 9s
Comments:

A good T1 considering. I took my time and a half. Had my shoes and helmet in a bag to keep them dry. They lasted dry for about... ten seconds.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Bike
  • 2h 10m 58s
  • 43.17 miles
  • 19.78 mile/hr
Comments:

The bike was plain and simple very tough, puddles all over, wind coming from the northeast sometimes gusting pretty hard and a heavy bike.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, I did my best and it wasn't that bad, considering.
Transition 2
  • 02m 17s
Comments:

Very uneventful, happy to get off the bike.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Run
  • 1h 55m 35s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 08m 49s  min/mile
Comments:

It was a good run overall, I could have done a better job by pacing better at the beginning. Looking at the splits I can tell I started to fade on mile 7 or 8, not much but I did. On mile 12, disaster struck in my stomach and I had a cramp. I was bent in half and had to stop for two minutes or so.
All throughout the run course, or most of it, I ran side by side with a girl from Austin (Meredith) and that turned out to be fun. We talked racing and such and it made it more relaxing.
What would you do differently?:

Pace better at the beginning, but I guess I'm just experimenting since I've never done a half mary after bike and swim. Very far from my 1:40'32" PR though.
Post race
Warm down:

Ate pizza and drank some Gatorade, talked to some fellow triathletes.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Weather and poor swim training. Also, I could use to shed 6 or 7 pounds.

Event comments:

The big absent in this race was the good weather. I guess next time it'll be better. I'll definetely do it again. Jack delivers good, organized races.

Course: An out and back down Lake Ridge. An altered version of the original course because of flooding. Also a much shorter one (about 13 miles). I started at an average speed and then my legs felt sluggish on the second loop, the third one was much better (I don't know why it takes me about thirty miles to warm up) and then the speed dramatically increased.
