Overall Rank = 196/239
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 31/38
Pre-race routine:

Water!!!! Walk/jog around the course and race area. Got into wetsuit and paddled around the warm up area of the swim for about 15 minutes
Event warmup:

Swam gently for 15 minutes
Swim
  • 30m 26s
  • 805 meters
  • 03m 47s / 100 meters
Comments:

The swim didn't feel bad, it was just SLOW--I don't know of the reason for the slow-ness, I just couldn't keep up. My breathing was good though.
What would you do differently?:

Keep practicing. This was my last tri for 2011, so I will now concentrate on increasing my swim distance--without any stoppages...This has been one of my issues, stopping mid lap/course.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

I ran from the swim to transition--that's a first. It went smoothly--the only part of me that was slow was my brain...
What would you do differently?:

FOCUS!
Bike
  • 1h 30m 19s
  • 20 miles
  • 13.29 mile/hr
Comments:

Not too bad. I was passed often going up hills, but I was screaming by others on the downhills and flats. Unfortunately on the last half mile, my front tire started going flat, which cut my speed further. I was still able to finish on the bike(it was a slow leak).

What would you do differently?:

This off-season--Continue riding--a LOT. Also, hill work, lots of hill work, they are definitely my weak point while riding. I need to get a fitting done as on my rides I am having issues with my hands going numb.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

This transition went smoothly...I do need to work on my bike dismount (while moving).
What would you do differently?:

Practice my bike dismount.
Run
  • 53m 50s
  • 4 miles
  • 13m 28s  min/mile
Comments:

Not bad, I think I could have pushed myself a bit harder, but I did run more than I walked.
What would you do differently?:

Run more. Again, during the off-season, focus on running for longer distance without stopping.
Post race
Warm down:

Walking around the expo.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My brain--I need to push myself harder.

Event comments:

It was a well-put-together race. They were organized and everything was done on time. The results have been posted within 24 hours too--definite plus. The proceeds went to a good cause--the Firefighter's Burn Institute. I plan on competing in this race next year as well.
