Pre-race routine:

Didn't eat right. I forgot to check if I had the right food. I had bananna, lucky charms, 1/2 power bar, roctane, water and gatorade.
Event warmup:

walked to swim start.
Swim
  • 31m 10s
  • 1640 yards
  • 01m 54s / 100 yards
Comments:

I just didn't relax because it seemed as if I was always off course. I think I am seeing but not processing what I am seeing correctly. I just need to try and relax more.
What would you do differently?:

Try and relax more and take my time sighting.
Transition 1
  • 03m 31s
Comments:

I am treating this like an IM so I am taking my time to make sure I get everything right. I think it went great compared to last time. Need to remember where bike is though.
What would you do differently?:

Remember where bike is. Everything else went good.
Bike
  • 1h 16m 48s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 19.41 mile/hr
Comments:

I just tried to get my heart rate down for the start and get comfortable. By the end of the first lap I started to push the uphills and keep my hr at the top of the zone. Also pushed most of the third lap except the last hill. Decided to relax so my legs would be ready for the run.
What would you do differently?:

Things went great. I only wish I was more daring on the down hills. Still not real comfortable and I have never been.
Transition 2
  • 01m 44s
Comments:

I took a little longer because i felt I was forgeting something.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. I would rather take a few extra seconds and get it right.
Run
  • 40m 28s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 06m 31s  min/mile
Comments:

Run went good. Didn't get passed and passed a bunch of people. Kept hr in check for first half and then went after it. My right calf was bothering me not to long after the bike but I was able to run through it until my foot started tingling. Then I realized my transponder was cutting of my circulation in that leg. I had to stop and loosen it and it got better. This was about a mile and half from the finish.
What would you do differently?:

Make sure transponder is loose and push sooner on the run for this distance. My sprint was way too fast for the last 400 and I wasn't really winded afterwards. I missed 7th fastest time and 1st in my class by 1 sec.
Post race
Warm down:

None this time.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Swim sighting and lack of experience. Also my mind set is on the longer distances so thats how i am thinking during the race. I think I can go much faster than this.

Event comments:

I will go back next year.
