Pre-race routine:

Got my number, set up transition area. Met the husband of one of my co-workers who was there as a first timer. Saw my kids and headed over to swim start/pre-race debriefing.
Event warmup:

None
Swim
  • 14m 9s
  • 700 yards
  • 02m / 100 yards
Comments:

No time splits, My wife was using her phone stopwatch so don't know any ranks.
What would you do differently?:

Overall swim went a lot better from last time. Just go faster. I am faster in the pool, but this race wasn't a total mess in the water. I was glad with it.
Transition 1
  • 03m 9s
Comments:

Need to either not wear gloves or figure out how to get this time down.
Bike
  • 1h 07m 28s
  • 19 miles
  • 16.90 mile/hr
Comments:

had a 20+ mph pace and then got a flat at mile 13.5. Damn tire was tough to get off and on. I've gotten a couple training before but it always takes me too long to swap it.
What would you do differently?:

Not get a flat and get a PR on the bike!!! Damn flat!!
Transition 2
  • 01m 12s
Comments:

Went great, Just threw bike over rack as it wasn't high enough to go under.
What would you do differently?:

T2 went well...
Run
  • 52m
  • 4 miles
  • 13m  min/mile
Comments:

Legs were better than 1st race but are still killing me. Don't know if the flat break helped or hurt the run. The legs weren't as dead as the 1st race, but still slow going for me.
What would you do differently?:

Might look into salt tabs as I had gu gel and water and still cramped on the quads. Also if I can't afford the Garmin, need at least a stopwatch so I'm not out there totally blind and know the time. Brutal not knowing.
Post race
Warm down:

warm down? Never good at this. I walk around looking at stuff but nothing specifically. Ate some fruit and a muffin, took some pics with the family and enjoyed the fact that I've now done two. One could be a fluke, two is almost a pattern!!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Need to do more strenuous bike/run bricks.

Event comments:

Maybe this is true for all races, but mile markers on a sprint run would be helpful (could've been alleviated had I brought my headphones and listened to my phone or save up for a garmin)
