Swim
Comments: Felt OK during the swim. Didn't really feel a rhythm or flow, but swam strong enough. Wetsuit helped, since my sighting and navigation were crappy. Wasn't too crowded though, and I did draft for a bit at the start. Funny how this wasn't a great swim compared to my AG. What would you do differently?: Practice sighting. Not sure...it was OK overall. Transition 1
Comments: 85th overall in transition, which is good for me.... Missed the wetsuit strippers. I didn't even see them, but the suit came off OK. Caught on my left foot, but smooth off my right. Socks were hard to get on, but they were new. What would you do differently?: Not use new socks...need new socks anyway. Bike
Comments: Great ride, considering my lack of training. New Aero helmet seemed to make a difference! On the bike and put shoes on while coasting down the first little hill. Rode for about 5 till I got to open area where I could start chomping on my snickers. Hard to eat while you are panting. At 2nd Snickers at 45 minutes. Started to drink perpetuem (4 scoops in a bottle) every 15 minutes at about 1.5 hours. Drank all the water by 2:30-900 calories. Belly felt good and energy was good. Some cramping/discomfort at about 50 miles, but nothing terrible. Was done with hills by then, so I didn't have to push to much. My power did drop off a bit towards the end (will post later). What would you do differently?: Longer training rides so less of a drop in power. I probably could have made 2:50, but I am happy with the bike. I got off feeling good. Transition 2
Comments: 1st clyde in T2 speed and was 49th overall at T2.... 29th overall in T2 speed. Helmet off, shoes on and grab the rest an run.... What would you do differently?: Not much, had a good transition. Keep it simple. Run
Comments: OK, it is just wrong that my run was better overall than my swim...how does that work??? I was feeling good for the first 4 miles, and then....Kabloowie. Not sure what happened, but my race headed south. I had to pee at mile 6 or 7 or so, and then again at mile 12. At mile 12, I stopped because it was literally painful. I think it may have been too much salt. Does your body make you pee when you are too salty? That sucked. Without the pee stops I could have done 2:12-2:14 and I KNOW I should have done 2:10. What would you do differently?: More long runs. I just haven't been consistent with my running. Post race
Warm down: Stretch, grab bullhorn, and go cheer on my friends!! What limited your ability to perform faster: Training. I just didn't have full HIM endurance. Overall though, I was happy with my performance. Better than San Juan. Event comments: I like this race. We had friends up, so seeing people I knew while running was a big plus. Watching Nick do pushups at mile 12 was crazy. Last updated: 2011-12-27 12:00 AM

Woke up at 3:00 AM and had yogurt and chia seeds and half a granola bar.
Up at 5:30 and more granola, banana and peanut butter.
Get ready, fill nutrition, lube and get dressed, head to transition. Coffee on the way.
Fart around in transition. Say hi to friends, more lube, and try to get someone to take the bullhorn.
