Run
Comments: I had a very good run considering my lack of training in the run. I did develop a bruise on the inside of my right ankle, caused by my shoes, but other than that I had a good run. Around mile 10 my hips were starting to feel sore however I kept on going. And in the last 1/4 mile I received awesome motivation from my good friend Ben Park. We both finished strong and under our goals of 2 hours!!! Congratulations Ben!. What would you do differently?: Actually train for the race. :) Run more LSD and work in some tempo runs in to my training. Post race
Warm down: I ate a bagel and a fruit bar, some Elite laced water. I walked around to keep my legs from cramping up and then I biked home. This worked out pretty well because it kept my legs loose and warm. I did have a pretty bad set of cramps in my legs on the bike ride home and had to stop for about 10 minutes but after that I was able to keep riding. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of training since my last triathlon and century ride. I have not really trained for any events because I am/was not motivated to exercise/train. I was in "off season" mode. If I decide to run this race again next year then I'll know I need to continue focusing on my run training. Event comments: This is one of the nicest courses to run but then I'm biased. I live only 2 miles from the course and I bike down it frequently. I really like the race shirts provided and the finishers medals are awesome. I'm not a podium racer but the top finishers trophies were pretty nice too! Last updated: 2006-07-25 12:00 AM

Pre-race meal was a yogurt cup, two slices of toast with peanut-butter and some "Elite" laced Gatorade endurance.
I rode my road bike to the event since the race site is only a few miles from my house so essentially I had a 30-45 minute warm-up biking.
