Total Time = 5h 22m 32s
Overall Rank = 125/880
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 20/61
Pre-race routine:

Ate a banana and downed OJ. Went out to set up the bike transition and get body markings.
Event warmup:

Wait in the parking lot area and at the dock for swim start
Swim
  • 35m 16s
  • 2112 yards
  • 01m 40s / 100 yards
Comments:

I remember veering to the right a lot of times. Seemed like I was fighting to get back to the main stream most of the time. Also went too easy on the swim.
Transition 1
  • 05m 14s
Comments:

Got lost trying to get out of the transition. The exit was different from previous year. Mount didn't go as smooth as I wanted. I attribute this to lack of practice. I forgot how to properly put my shoes on the bike.
What would you do differently?:

Never assume the course to be the same year after year.
Bike
  • 2h 53m 24s
  • 56 miles
  • 19.38 mile/hr
Comments:

I thought I did OK on the course. I went through the course at a comfortable pace and left enough energy for my run leg.
What would you do differently?:

I might have left too much energy for my run leg.
Transition 2
  • 04m 44s
Comments:

Took some time to pee. I lost my bib in the process and had to run back into the restroom. Oops.
What would you do differently?:

Focus on what I'm doing.
Run
  • 1h 43m 56s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 07m 56s  min/mile
Comments:

They were giving out salt vials on the course. That must've help since I tend to cramp a good bit on the course. Never had to slow too much on course. Went well.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around the finisher tent and ate some free food and beer.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I might have eased up on the bike too much.

Event comments:

I finished the race slower than last year. I'll chalk it up to less race this season and not enough practice at transition. Sad to see a great race being bought off by the big WTC big brand, but I'm hoping it gets more exposure of the sport to more people in the area.
