Comments:

Very crowded wave, but didn't have too much trouble getting out. Was swimming well, but on the way in got tumbled a couple times - got me breathing hard. Probably lost some time there having to run up the hill. Time was almost 2 min slower than last year, but looking at overall results, even the pros were a minute or more slower, so looks like the course was longer. I finished in the middle of my wave.
What would you do differently?:

Don't try to catch the big waves in when I'm a little tired, just go under and not risk getting tumbled and save effort.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

Took a little longer to get wetsuit off than I would have liked, but overall it was good
Bike
  • 34m 9s
  • 9 miles
  • 15.81 mile/hr
Comments:

This time is not accurate for the distance. This is where it fell apart (AGAIN - ARGH!). I got another rear flat about 3.5 miles into the bike course (almost 19mph avg to that point). I didn't have a spare tube (forgot to put another in after the last race), so I tried to just inflate the tire hoping I'd be able to limp in at least to transition. That didn't last long so I ended up walking back. I ended up pretty close to where I would have finished if I had actually ridden, took my time in transition and went ahead with the run.
What would you do differently?:

Check tire after every flat. Later, Kip found a small piece of glass in the tire. Don't know if it was there before (last race), but I'm hoping it was so I know what happened.
Transition 2

Run
  • 27m 31s
  • 3 miles
  • 09m 10s  min/mile
Comments:

This was fun - I felt good after my long "walk break". Saw Kip a couple times, and was very pleasantly surprised to see a group of Bellas cheering and waving signs - what a great group of women!
Post race
Event comments:

I have no official time, but the race organizers were kind enough to email my splits for my own info. 12:35 swim, 34:09 bike (probably not far off from what I should have been able to do, including T1 and T2) and 27:31 run, for 1:14:15.
