  • Comments: This is great race and was the best that it could be given the weather and my current fitness levels. I would have loved a beautiful ocean swim and a dry course but that isn't what nature provided on race day. I appreciate the race directors and life guards making a good call and canceling the swim for everyone's safety. I also actually really enjoyed the heavier rain for the second lap of the bike and the run. It felt great and kept a smile on my face. I hope to make it back to this race again some day to give it another shot.

  • Comments: I want to thank my coach Amy Ruth Bennett-Eck of Camp Bennett, whose expertise with the Hawaii Double, racing Kona, and XTERRA together was a huge benefit that allowed me to train and race this successfully.

  • Comments: very good race quality overall. XTERRA does a good job. Even though bike course was harder this year, it still is probably the most scenic course I've ever done. Extremely challenging.

  • Comments: Definitely one of the best post-race activities of any of the races I've done. I do feel a bit sorry for the slower people as they started breaking down the food/drink stations before everyone had finished, but I think that had to do with the agreement with the Ritz.

  • Comments: I was very happy the race went off. It could have been changed significantly due to the Tsunami, so grateful for that. However, I think the swim was not planned well and will be making suggestions to the race staff on this. I also think they should give us a least 2 free beers at the finish, as they had kegs of Kona longboard available. We paid $450, and triathletes generally don't have money on them when you finish. At $6 per beer, it was kinda ridiculous and cruel to have cold beer sitting there. So I split and bought my own ;-)

  • Comments: XTERRA Worlds RULES !! such a fun race. And I get to say I raced with Lance ! ;-) (but I never saw him on the course)

  • Comments: overall just an amazing race. pretty hard core off road challenge with the best Xterra competitors (world championship). I felt honored to be able to compete with them. I hope to be able to do it again next year.

  • Comments: This may be the most fun that I've ever had in triathlon. Great people. Amazing venue. Tough to take the time aspect seriously, since I had no prior XTerra experience. So, it was all just for fun and a t-shirt and a medal. I'l never forget this one, and I have the scars to remind me!
