  • Comments: This was my first standard distance tri, and it was a good challenge. The event was very organized, and the emcee made light (in a good way) of the tough weather conditions. Plenty of law enforcement support on the bike course, which was very much appreciated. This is my second Dallas Athletes Racing event this year. Both had bad weather conditions. That is not DAR's fault, but I am not inclined to do their early season events in the future simply because the weather is too unpredictable. I was disappointed in the post-race offerings - water, some Nuun, and eggs/sausage. Really, I'd just like some chocolate milk. I had no time goal for this race, but I had it in my head to finish between 2:30 and 2:40. I definitely think the wind played a factor, and without the unusual T1 problems, I think I could go sub 2:40 on this course. The great news is that I felt fit enough to get through the whole race and, under better conditions, I think I could be competitive in my age group.

  • Comments: Good Race! The bike is through very rural areas --beautiful this time of year. I didn't care for the bumpy roads. The swag was good but the shirts were misprinted, the bag was misprinted, and my finisher's medal says sprint because they didn't print any Olympics. Despite all that - it was a good course close to DFW.

  • Comments: I enjoyed the race and things seemed to move along. They were late getting started but that was due to the traffic buildup on the highway leading to the event. They wanted to give the folks stuck in traffic a bit more time to arrive.

  • Comments: This was a really fun race. The swim venue was awesome, the bike wasn't a bunch of laps with lots of turns, and the run was partially shaded with LOTS of support. Many opportunities to cool-off. I think a lot of RDs could learn a lot from this race. I felt like they cared about my comfort. Will definitely try to get back to this race either for a sprint or the X-50. Highly recommend!

  • Comments: despite some of the bad press that others on this site have given this race, I thought it was great. PLENTY of volunteers, very organized, lots of great athletes there, good course (despite the 2 miles of crapy road at mile 18) and good post race activities.

  • Comments: Some of the volunteers were just standing in the corners without saying a word about turning or doing anything at all. On the funny side, the first wave took off two minutes early due to a misunderstanding and some were turned around and let go thirty seconds later.

  • Comments: I thought the race was pretty good overall. It was better than I expected. The venue was really nice and great for the kids to come and watch b/c there were open areas to run around and the beach was awesome. There was also a playground, but it was flooded. Since it's a pretty small race, there weren't too many people all over either. I thought the course was pretty nice as well. The lake seemed pretty clean, the bike was hilly, but not too hilly and the roads were smooth and traffic free for the most part. The run was pretty shaded as well. For a local race, that's not too far away, I'd give it an A. If we weren't going out of town, I'd be back for Disco in July.

  • Comments: Chip malfunctions set them back and didn't get many of the swim/T1 splits. Also, they always seem to run out of refreshments for the olympic athletes. There was no vitamin water by the time I finished. Hats are getting boring. Give visors to the guys, too. I like Tom's humorous approach, but the schwag and post-race food and drink have dwindled from the high of Disco '07 where there was plenty.

  • Comments: This is the first year I've done the DSU races. I really like the venue and the laid back style. There was a C&W band playing. Food was OK - watermellon and pizza. But, they need a new timing company. The start was late because the timing company wasn't ready. Then the oly results took forever to be posted. Many of the split times are missing (I don't have a swim or T1 time).

  • Comments: Good volunteers, well-marked course, and a very relaxed atmosphere (something that I personally appreciate). There were, however, a few hiccups (albeit nothing that hindered my performance or ultimately detracted from my enjoyment of the race) ... ... my chip strap was way too big (or altogether flawed). The velcro only engaged for about 1 inch. I used some of Todd's medical tape to secure the strap around my ankle. ... it seems to me that the swim course could have been shifted right in order to avoid the "reedy" area of the "out" section. I don't recall this being a problem @ Disco. ... my swim and T1 times are missing. In looking at the results, it seems that this happened for quite a few folks. Faulty equipment/process?

  • Comments: The perfect weather sure helped make this a good event. By the time I made it over to the food area, there were only glazed donuts left. I sure hope they had food set aside for when the HIM athletes finished. I would be really upset to spend 5-7 hours racing and not have any post-race food.

  • Comments: It would have been nice to get a medal or a dry fit shirt, in fact when I crossed the finish line I was thinking "which one of the girls has my medal?" I guess none of them did - but that's ok - I had fun and met my goals so it's all good.

  • Comments: I have to hand it to Dallas Athletes. I was feeling really disappointed with their races up to this point, but I think they did a great job with this one. Lots of volunteers. Most of them knew what they were doing...except for the lady going into the TA who wanted to see the bar ends on my tri bike:) I was so proud of Steve who did so great for his first Oly! It was great to met some new BT'ers.

  • Comments: Much better performance for Dallas Athletes than Disco. Still a little disorganized for my tastes. I'll take Iron Jack and his "grumpy attitude" any day.
