  • Comments: I had such a good time at Wildflower last year that I couldn't wait to come back. It was very cool that my wife and friends came up with me and we all had a great weekend. I think it's a great race event, in a perfect place, at just the right time of year. The event staff & volunteers are awesome. Oh, and whoever it was that accidentally grabbed my (lucky) race belt, (favorite) hat and (expensive) sunglasses at T2 returned them to my spot after the race. Nice.

  • Comments: The number of volunteers could have populated a small city. This race was awesome. I highly suggest it too anyone, but if you want to be competitive you better put in the time and the hill work. Did I mention the volunteers were awesome!!!! There were so many, and so helpful, and excited to be there!

  • Comments: This was a crazy trip and a great race. The festival and everything were GREAT and having the VIP passes was so incredibly cool. Pretty much enjoyed food and drinks whenever I needed and was able to stay hydrated anyway. The expo was great and being there with a pro (my coach AJ) I met a LOT of cool people, like the Kuota reps and the Zipp rep, not to mention getting all kinds of free schwagg from them all. Tri-Cal is well organized and the race was well run. My only complaint was transportation to and from HArris Creek CG was a little tough on the day of the long course since all of the roads and even the walking trail (which was part of the run course) was shut down. It took us almost all day to find out that there was a water shuttle, and by the time we did, there was almost an hout wait for it... Anyway, it was GREAT!

  • Comments: This is a West Coast Institution in the sport, it's clear to me. It was a lot of fun getting wrapped up in the energy of it all. There are spectators/wellwishers all throughout the course. The race organizers did a fine job, as they should, they've had 25 years to get it right. I recommend it, although, i would recommend camping there if you're going to do it. The ingress/egress from the race site represented the only real frustration. The course is definitely challenging with the heat and all of the hills. It's so worth it to be in a small city sized virtual community of people with the same passion for the sport.

  • Comments: Wildflower is an amazing event. The vibe is fun and the people are energetic. Very well run, on time, good support. Fun camping and a beautiful site. This is my third year at this event with my brother and mom. My bro is a strong swimmer and runner but I'm faster on the bike. I caught him at mile 21 on the bike and he got me back about a half mile into the run and stayed with me the rest of the way. Super fun running with him and finishing together--can't wait to see the finish pics. Met MadKat in transition before the race, sorry I didn't catch you at the end MadKat, hope you had a grat race! Recognized JWryals in the finish chute and introduced myself. Nice meeting both of you guys even though it was brief. NUTRITION: Followed coaches strategy of an aero bottle of Perpetuem on the bike, Hammer gel near the end of the bike, and two more gels on the run. Worked out well, grabbed a water bottle at the last aid station on the bike to wash down the gel. Cheated a little bit

  • Comments: Great race, but I think the heat and camping of the venue is wearing down on me. I tried that no camping thing that didn't work, but the camping and not enjoying myself for a full weekend kind of sucks. I need to decide about next year. I know I want to do IM California in March and maybe I need to look at the Long course here rather than Olympic. I don't know I am just very unhappy with my performance, even it was the second best I have done here.
