  • Comments: My first 70.3, am I disappointed in the time a little but with all that happened I think I did okay I had fun and learned a lot. I need a stronger base I don't think I was ready for the distance to be competitive but I was excited to finish.

  • Comments: Great race. It was well put on. The bike course was safe and well marked. The swim was well marked, with a strong safety presence. Great volunteers helping at every juncture. I had a great experience for my first endurance distance event. I could go on for pages about my experience, but it's past my bedtime now :)

  • Comments: After the race I was flabbergasted to find out I finished 9th. For such an epic meltdown, it was quit lucky. Karin wound up getting off the bike in 6th in her division which is SO impressive. When she comes back she's going to be stronger than ever. I went over to the slot allocation tent and found out that only 2 slots of the 5 for my division had been claimed. All I needed was one person not to show and I would have a guaranteed slot. Turned out one person didn't show and I'm on my way to Vegas. Now, the goal for this race was to qualify with no roll down. I didn't accomplish that goal but I decided to take the spot to represent my team and sponsors at the World Championship. Next time, I'll dial in my nutrition and this won't happen again. Special thanks to all my sponsors Wattie Ink, blueseventy, KSwiss, Reynolds Wheels, Scott Bikes, ISM Saddles, Power Bar, Kask Helmets, FuelBelt, 454 Tattoo and Speedfil. Corporate Sponsors 101 Pipe & Casing, Kurt Orban Partners, and Wins Wheels.

  • Comments: I might do this race again sometime but than again I might not because 4 of the 5 years I believe the weather has not been very good for that race so it makes me think that it would be better to find a different race to do.

  • Comments: What can I say about a race that went from a 70.3 to a 26.3?? With all the training and all the money invested into this race, to say I was disappointed is a gross understatement. I've never experienced race conditions like this before, never pushed myself into such extreme elements, but that lingering feeling of failure will not go away...Could I have made it through the whole bike in those conditions?? Would all of my hard work produced the results I was hoping for?? Was my nutrition on Point?? These are just some of the questions that will never be answered...This was my first 70.3 attempt and I wanted to take it. I have to trust that the WTC were just saving us from ourselves. That the spirit of the the athletes participating would have put us in danger that we would have been too stubborn to acknowledge. Hundreds of those signed up didn't even toe the starting line. And out of those who did, many were pulled before they finished. (Including multiple Pros) But as much as I try to find

  • Comments: It wasn't a good race b/c of the weather otherwise it's a great race, did it last year and had a blast. So far this is the worst race I've ever been in though I did the best I could under the circumstances. I just didn't get that same satisfaction I got last year after finishing the whole course, hopefully next year will be better, God willing.

  • Comments: This race was my life for the last 6 months. I trained and trained. I planned and planned some more, but like most things in life the best laid plans often change due to uncontrollable circumstances. I had a great trip with a good friend. I also had a fun race. Not a 70.3, but who can say they did a race under these conditions for their first attmept at a 70.3? I did join team beef at the expo and I was happy to have an extra jersery to remember the event. Also if anyone plans on doing this event pack everything and stay at the Hampton inn. T2 was out one side and the finish line was on the other. I can't tell you how nice it was to take a warm shower minutes after the race finished. I'm off to the doctor for x-rays on my heel and if he says it isn't broken then it's time to register for Steelhead. To all you fellow Boise finishers I say congrats and what a day that was. I'm sorry I missed the post race party I went for a shower and a nap after the race. I ended up going to

  • Comments: Hard to know how to feel about this race this year. I'm not going to second guess the officials' decision to cut the bike. They have to think about the safety of all of us. I do feel bad for those for whom this would have been first HIM. I will just try to take what lessons I can and move forward.

  • Comments: I would do this race again. Too bad about the weather, but the race directors have to make the decision based on their ability to deal with a diverse group of athletes under the conditions. Didn't understand what the difficulty was with collecting our gear bags. I've done Vineman twice, which is also a point to point race, and never had such confusion in getting my T1 gear bag at the end of the race. Great volunteers in Boise and generally a great atomosphere and experience.

  • Comments: So that's Boise. Ashley and I found a great Mexican restaurant right off the run course that we had lunch at. Then went back out and continued to cheer for all my teammates and friends. I don't even know how to end this blog post....Just thank everyone I know? It seems like everyone was at this race. Special thanks to Sue and Jay for being our anchor throughout the weekend. Thanks to Wattie for putting together such a spectacular team. I've made so many friends and have felt so welcome...it makes going to these races a whole new experience. Thanks to Elliot for letting us into his weird weird world of Linsey Corbin fascination....it's actually quit comical ;P...Congrats goes out to all those who raced, braved the conditions and did so well..We'll see lot's of you in Vegas. Thanks to all my sponsors, Wattie Ink, 101 Pipe & Casing, Inc., Kurt Orban Partners, and Wins Wheels. Very special thanks and love go to my girlfriend Ashley who had to deal with a stupid, rainy, wet, cold, point

  • Comments: The bad rating is for the weather. I understand that it was snowing on part of the race course (Micron area) when we were at the dam. Course itself is a nice course, and Boise is a great place to race (well supported). Suspect I'll go back and try it again.

  • Comments: This was one of the most awesome experiences of my life! I had some much freakin' fun! It felt so great to have it all come together, all that training seemed to really work. I never would have thought I could do so well, in fact that's why I got messed up on the 2nd loop thing, b/c I could see the clock had a 5hr on it and my mind had 6 or even 7hr and how could the clock say 5hr? The race was so well supported, I doubt any other race will compare to it, can't wait for next year, yahooooo!

  • Comments: I love this race. This is the second time I've done it and I will be back again next year. I'm biased toward the Boise community since I lived there for three years, but they are some of the most friendly people you'll find. Volunteers are awesome. Got lots of encouraging compliments the following day while wearing my t-shirt too.

  • Comments: I didn't get a massage after the race but would have liked to. By then it has been a very long day for the family and they are a bit anxious to get home. I did go see my massage therapist 2 days later for 1.5 glorious hours of stretching and massage. I also had my easiest recovery yet and i attribute that, at least in part, to my massage therapist. The best thing about today's race is I did it 19 minutes faster than last year! Will I do it next year? Give me some more time to forget....

  • Comments: First WTC event. Very impressed. Everything was very well organized. The finish area was amazing. Big crowd out there to bring the athletes home. Boise is a fantastic city. Stayed downtown and everything was walking distance and very easy to get around. Looking forward to some improved fitness and decision making for next year.

  • Comments: This was my first WTC race and I was a bit let down. It is well organized and the volunteers were amazing. I thought the expo and long lines were pathetic and the finish line was a bit anti-climactic. I enjoyed the course except the run was too crowded. Boise is a great city and the crowds were exceptional. I think I would do it again. One disappointment is that I didn't meet any BT people at the race. We need to find a way to make life more fun by at least being together as we wait in the long lines or sit in the sun waiting for our waves to begin.

  • Comments: Best race I've ever done in terms of organization and my own fitness. I know now why the WTC races charge a premium. They're very well run and make you feel like a champ. My only beef: My wave was supposed to start 13 mins after the pros. When i crossed the finish the clock said 6:11. Therefore doing the math, I was convinced I did 5:58 and broke 6 hours. Official time says otherwise. A bit confused by that one, but beat my stated goal of 6:15, WIN for me!

  • Comments: For my first ever HIM and only second triathlon ever...I thought I did a great job. It was one year ago this weekend that I went and watched a triathlon for the first time...and here it is one year later and I do a HIM! I love this sport, love this lifestyle and am already thinking now I need to find an Olympic to do this summer...!
