  • Overall course based on my ability: Too hard

  • Comments: As I said before, one of the most beautiful courses I have every seen. First time I have done a point to point, and the volunteers made everything seem easy. There were tons of volunteers. Plenty of supplies at the aid stations. Lots of people still hanging around at the finish, even after 9+ hours. The only thing I would say they need to improve, is the swim waves started 8 minutes apart. I image this was so the roads would be pretty open for the bike. Overall, an outstanding race, venue, and event. I would recommend this race to anyone.

  • Comments: I was on track for my sub 6 hour Half Ironman, but the heat on the run prevented me from obtaining my goal. However, given the conditions on the run, I am happy to have completed the event.

  • Comments: I was excited to finish the race but couldn't stop thinking about the disappointment in my performance during the run. I had a personal best time on my swim and a great time on my bike ride but unfortunately lost all those gains during the run. At the end of the race I was totally set on never doing this race again but now that a week has passed and I had time to reflect back on the race I actually might do it again next year...we'll see...

  • Comments: Missed my goal by 18 min. due to the bad run. I was on pace until I got to the run. Not sure I could have done much other than train in the extreme heat more.

  • Comments: Amazing race! After doing Sprint, International, Olympic, and HIM, this is my favorite distance. I do not feel that I have a top speed gear but I can go at 80% for a long time. Looking forward to VA Marathon and ... Ironman!

  • Comments: I loved this race last year. I am the broken record that says "last year I finished this race.." I hated not finishing. I think they could start everyone a little earlier - say daybreak. We're triathletes for goodness sake we get up at the crack of dawn ALL THE TIME to train so why not race day too? You know you were up at that hour anyway!

  • Comments: This is a good event, one of the best I've done. A sherpa is a definite bonus for this one because of the remoteness of the start, but it's do-able without one. Or, stay near the start and plan to ride your bike one way or the other.

  • Comments: I love the 1/2 vineman - volunteers and race staff are awesome. The course is beautiful and the racers are really nice. Next time though I want to come back and race when the weather is not so hot!

  • Comments: volunteers were outstanding, especially on the run course. The one volunteer that wasn't cool was the old lady who grabbed a fistful of my shirt at the check-in saturday because I came in through the wrong door. She may as well have pulled me out the door by my ear! Sorry gram'ma, it was an honest mistake! Great having so many aid stations, it made a huge difference. Very well supported. Nice finishers medal, water bottle and shirt.

  • Comments: Overall this was my best race so far. Very competitive, highly scenic, great organization (if there was a single transition it would be better though), and lots of nice volunteers. Definitely recommended!

  • Comments: Vineman 70.3 was my first HIM, so I cannot compare it to others but this race was awesome, organized in every aspect. Unfortunate incident with the fallen tree, but not something that could have been predicted. It was really well run and I would definitely like to try it again...maybe pray more for cooler temps?!

  • Comments: My goal was to go under 5:00 hours at this race. Disappointed on how absolutely terrible I felt on the run. I really learned how to respect the run in these conditions and hilly route. Overall, the race was educational and the volunteers did a great job. Time to move on and get ready for IMAZ!

  • Comments: PROS: Beautiful venue, lots of aid stations and plenty of good stuff at the aid stations. Loved the fruit and cola. Great swim venue. CONS: Bike course on narrow, hilly, winding roads open to traffic. Lack of finisher's gear (no finisher's hat, no finisher's shirt unless you ordered an embroidered one, and they ran out of the finisher's water bottles by the time I got there). Even the purchasable merchandise doesn't have the year on it and gets recycled from year to year. No post-race activities. Two different transitions areas were a pain and the shuttles to get back to the cars at Johnson's Beach were slow and crowded. Not planning to do this one again.

  • Comments: Vineman 70.3 was a a perfect race for a first timer. The volunteers were amazing! Thank you so much for all of the hard work that you all put in! I would definitely recommend this race to anyone wanting to do a kick ass event!

  • Comments: It's great being a local for this race and being able to train on the course. This was a huge boost to my confidence going into KY, similar rolling course. Next year I will finish this race and get my Finisher's medal! :)

  • Comments: Overall: Swim was no issue. T1 was horrible. The bike worked wonderfully. T2 was fine. The run was hot. Nutrition all worked fine. Hydration worked fine. HR management was fine. Did not feel fatigued; did not have muscle pain or lactic build; breathing was in control and comfortable. Core temp management was all I could do stay wet. Shoes worked great. Handheld was perfect. Scenery was stellar. The organization and volunteers were first rate. They actually have real food at the finish, though not enough shade. This was my fifth time on the course. There were two Clearwater slots. Charlie and Faron passed so I picked up one.

  • Comments: They ran out of finisher water bottles; also, no finisher t-shirt. Some aid stations on the course were out of ice. I chalk this up to being one of the last waves (next to last). It's not fun to be last on the course.
