  • Comments: This was an epic half ironman, the course will test you! The military friendly event, which benefits the navy seal foundation, was especially appealing to me being a 19 year navy officer. This event has made lasting memories with me!

  • Comments: I did this race due to its history and it was a military benefit race. I also was able to get a military rate due to my prior service. This is a fun fast course, but if your going to race it, you must train in the sand, alot.... Imperial Beach is a nice little beach town and you are very close to San Diego and all the sights and tourist/vacation opportunities it offers.

  • Comments: I felt better after this race than I have after some of my Olympics. I contribute that to actually following a training plan (a first for me). I was well prepared. I had a nutrition plan (more below) and mostly stuck to it. I know a lot can go wrong in a race, and I am pleased that I made it through the experience without an injury, stomach distress or even a blister. I also recognize all that could have gone wrong and didn't. I'm so thankful to be able to train and eat consistently. • Comments: This is the second time I've done this race. The first was on the 10 year anniversary of 9/11. As this race is put on by the Navy seals, it's a yearly reminder of the sacrifice they make so we can participate in things like triathlon. The race has it's own character and "charm" that you won't forget it if you ever have the opportunity to participate.

  • Comments: very tough conditions with the surf and undercurrent (exiting water). Other than starting late and making the wrong turn, I was relatively happy with surf entries and exits. Caught a great wave on second surf exit. We were part of a mixed relay team. Heather rode a 3:08:08 (17.8mph), Sarah ran a 1:41:42 (7:46). We were 10/14 in our division

  • Comments: Great race, the only improvement would be adding one more aid station to the run on the pavement portion.

  • Comments: This hard but FUN! The course was great. In general I like loops. I got to see my mom quite a few times and talked to a lot of people. Always cool to talk to other athletes out there. One older guy with an M-dot on his arm told me " keep going honey, you're looking good." ^_^ I thought that was cool.

  • Comments: This is a great race and although it doesn't have all the thrills of some races, it does have a lot of prestige. It is the type of race that triathlon is meant to be. Well in my mind at least. It is setup to test you and what you can do. It is also a 31 year old race that I look forward to going back to.

  • Comments: I loved every second of this whole experience. Not just the race, but also being in San Diego and Coronado. I can't wait to get here for BUD/s (and hopefully a little someone will still be around).
