  • Comments: After being one of the slowest people out of the water, I did really well on the bike and run. I really enjoyed this race. It was my first tri.

  • Comments: Good well run race......a good course to start the season with...it really demonstrated my weaknesses and how I need to get serious about training to improve this season.

  • Comments: This was my third time doing this course, the other two times at the 3Sports Triathlon which is put on by Set Up Events. The organization was pretty good for the most part, but we had to wait until Sunday morning to get our swim start time, whereas the other times we've gotten that the day before. And the aforementioned bike race number wasn't as good--Noony's disintegrated on the course, and I saw a few others on the course that had come off other bikes. And there seemed to be fewer post-race snacks than usual--hardly anything at all when Noony finished, though some more pizza showed up after a bit. But our niece loved the moonbounce, so they get points for that. And the race t-shirt (the only reason I do these things anyway) has a cool design and is very soft. Overall, this is a fun course to do, and a good one to start the season. Now I just need to sign up for some other races and get on a regular training schedule.

  • Comments: I have a love-hate relationship with Richmond Multisports. They put on good events, but they have some serious problems. For example, we were seeded by race number (which we picked up on Saturday)...how hard would it be to tell us our swim time then? Why did I have to wait until Sunday morning to find out that #316 would hit the water at 8:18:30??? And get a working megaphone, for God's sake. And don't give out the door prizes based on arcane knowledge that only folks that have been part of the Richmond Tri-Club forever would know. Oh, and measure the run right. :) But other than that, the race itself is well done.

  • Comments: I was a bit turned off by packet pickup, since the problem was that someone seeded us by sign-up order rather than swim and all the packets had to be redone at the last minute. I was also a little turned off since they said there would be numbered bike racks, but weren't at the last minute. However, the race was otherwise done well. There were a ton of volunteers and the traffic was well controlled. I would have liked to wait inside the pool area for my swim (which they did in my first tri at a different Y) - maybe there wasn't room here. I liked the pizza at the post-race. Yummy! I liked the neoprene chip bands, rather than the plastic strips. I had a great time!

  • Comments: I enjoyed the bike course itself. It was nice. The run course was not great. It was pretty crowded. Overall, I don't think there were enough volunteers for the race. The race director was desperately trying to find more volunteers, but I think they were still short. There were only two at the water stop, which means that it was hard to get water going through. It seemed pretty disorganized. A lot of people seemed confused, even during packet pickup, which is always a little disconcerting. I'd probably do the race again, but that's largely because it's very close to my house and I know that the race director usually puts on a good race.
