  • Comments: The blame for this DQ is shared. The map and instructions they sent out really did not seem to match what happened on race day, and the lack of volunteers (they were pleading for volunteers over the PA prior to the start of the race) exacerbated this problem. Having a "turn here" signed right were they said we were supposed to make the turn was a problem. I should have realized that each loop would be identical, but I had in my mind the instructions from the email and my mental abilities after 2 hours of racing were not their sharpest. Seems as though no one else DQ'd themselves (no volunteer at that pilon meant you couldn't have been caught) so I must be the lone idiot that made the turn at the wrong spot, which means the blame is more on me than on Somersault. Still, lots of other people were confused.

  • Comments: Another well-run Somersault event. Swim course is nice, bike and run courses are really nice (both my favourite so far) T-zone is a bit of a gong show (trees, undulating terrain, bike racks all over the place)

  • Comments: I am only giving this race 3 stars because I found some of the volunteers to be quite rude, they were NOT happy to be there. At other races I've done volunteers have been great and very encouraging. Here it was like they begrudged you for making them be there. Not all of them, but about 1/2 of the ones I came across. The transition area could also be more organized/controlled and they need to find a better bike course. Other than those problems it was a good race and I certainly don't mean to give the impression that it was horrible - just pointing out some areas for improvement.

  • Comments: Awesome race. One of the best put together events I've done. Much better doing it in person than by myself at home like last year... And yes, I made sure to thank all of the volunteers that I saw on the course.

  • Comments: I have to say that K-town Tri puts this one to shame in terms of secuity in the T zone (anyone could get in here ) food, body marking and general organization.

  • Comments: Don't do the "I wish I was in Brockville" Triathlon. No volunteers anywhere :) Instead, do the actual race in Ontario - I hear it's nice...
