  • Comments: This is a fun, well-run race, and I always have a good time. I think this is my last tri of the year - time to focus on some running races before I start training for IMCDA!

  • Comments: This is a well-run local event. Calm swim, mostly flat bike and run courses. It's a good beginner race, but it also draws some pretty competitive local athletes. Definitely not a deep field though. It feels like the swim and the bike are long (I know the bike is more than 10 miles).

  • Comments: Mission Bay is one of the originals. It is well organized. The bike course is definitely longer than 15k - I have had it at 10.2 miles the past two years. It was nice to see them give awards 5-deep in some AGs. I still think they should give out medals instead of the pins for all finishers, adjusting the overall costs accordingly.

  • Comments: For a few reasons, this season has not been quite what I wanted it to be. Even so, I'm continuing to make progress even though my situation hasn't been ideal. I managed to shave 3 minutes off last year's time on less training. Hopefully the same thing happens at Silverman next month!!

  • Overall course based on my ability:

  • Comments: Very nice race. Huge field for a sprint, 1460 athletes. Very satisfied for my last race of the year. Beat last year's overall time by almost 7 minutes. PRs in the swim and run was great as well. Now it's 5-6 weeks of taking it easy and cross-training before California 70.3 training begins.

  • Overall course based on my ability:

  • Comments: My biggest complaint is the early start time. I get up at 5 for work, so it's not like I'm generally opposed to it, but the race was completely over by 10. I don't think they closed any roads for it, so why couldn't it be later? Also, the ratio of port-o-potties to athletes was way too low. I guess I've been spoiled at the last 3 races I've done, which have been at Camp Pendleton - plenty of port-o-potties, no waiting! One more thing - the boat ramp - OW. I have a cut on the bottom of my foot, and I think it was infected by the disgusting toxic Mission Bay water. Other than the rough start to the morning, I had a good time and was satisfied with my performance.

  • Comments: Overall, I really enjoyed myself. It was a blast to be part of a relay where we were all novices, and to witness Matt during his first ever tri (WTG Matt!), and watch Kelly and Mike. I'm definitely looking forward to doing my first full triathlon next season! And I kind of hope the relay thing turns into an annual event amongst our group -- would be fun!

  • Comments: Last race of the year. I was planning on making this an A-race but the cold shut me down some. I feel like I improved greatly from last year but I still have a lot of work to do before I am competitive.
