  • Comments: Great race, already chomping at the bit to have another go, but with the little kids this will be the last IM for 2-3 years. I will use the time to get faster at running and work on some short course bike. I would love to hit 10:59 next time. Went for a 5k run on Friday, and an 9k run on Sat. Totally flat speedwise but I feel good. Legs are still sore so I'm still taking it easy for the next week or so. Haven't hopped on a scale since race day - hope it's not too bad. This was an awesome race. In a perfect world, I might have run down an 11:30 or so but whatever, it is what it is and I'm ok with everything. And the day was HARD so no matter if it was a 9:00 or a 16:59 everyone paid their dues. I can't WAIT to be back.

  • Comments: Awesome volunteers everywhere. Great, great race. heard they ran out of water at a few aid stations on the bike. I think that is due to them throwing PERFORM at us instead of gatorade. PERFORM wasn't available up here until a month or so before the race. So I believe everyone was taking water on the bike.

  • Comments: Absolutely great fans and greater volunteers, and the course was absolutely amazing. My catcher and T2 assitant were great.! Organizationally there were some issues however. Running out of water on three aid station on the bike was pretty unacepatble (especially since there were 800 or so more behind me) and I did notice that the volunteers were filling up water jugs from the lake on the run at several aid stations on the lake. Don't think that was supposed to happen. There were a ton of ambulences on course for bike wrecks and heat related issues on the run, and those folks were outstanding as well. It was a rough day and I hear there were over 500 DNFs. Not that the Race director can control the weather. Medal wasn't as cool as some of the IM Canada onces I've seen from previous years, and not along of swag for $650. All that said the race really was spectacle and a very cool event to have been a part of. The course is breathtaking in many ways, the lakes are beautiful

  • Comments: canada is the best. hands down. i am signed up for lake placid next year, and really hope that LP can compare to the beauty of canada. love this race, and i will be back. erin had an amazing race, and finished in 11:43 for her first ironman and WON her AGE GROUP. which means.........KONA. in her first attempt. are. you. serious. she took her slot (even tho its in 6 weeks) and we are so happy. we both qualified for vegas champs (she wont race now tho) so between the two of us, we are both competing in the world championships. 70.3 and ironman. dream come true also, jordan rapp gave one of the BEST speeches i have ever had the pleasure of hearing at the awards banquet.see link below: http://www.slowtwitch.com/Opinion/Rapp_on_the_dais_2296.html

  • Comments: I'm disappointed with my execution but at the same time ecstatic that I finished and pushed though to the end. Sadly, I think I've got the bug now and might have to do a few more of these things. What can I say - if it was easy they wouldn't call it Ironman. But you already knew that :-)

  • Comments: It's weird, but this race felt really, really commercialized in comparison with Coeur d'Alene. Trevor and I got kinda disgusted with Lisa Bentley saying Suburu as every second word in her speech, that we left the banquet early. The banquet was all vegetarian (although not all vegan), and I was looking for some meat and good desserts. The CDA banquet was better. Apparently, the organizers ran out of water on the bike and, maybe even, on the run. The Ironman Canada gear prices were extreme!!! They didn't stock up on enough of the nice bike jackets, so by the time I got there (and I was close to the front) you had to order them. One person said it takes forever, so I got a couple of things that were there. The volunteers were fantastic! My flip-flops were in my bag, my catchers were cautious and helpful and the aid station crews were great. The traffic ladies were fantastic and had really strong loud voices. Those 2 ladies ran a tight ship. My at-home cheering section totally

  • Comments: It was a great race. Aid stations, volunteers, organizers, locals, and crowd, everything was perfect. It was a great first Ironman and in a couple years (with a couple more years of base since this is my second season of any type of endurance sports) I look forward to trying another and seeing what time I can do with a bit of experience.

  • Comments: they ran out of water during the bike - not sure I ever did have really fresh water. the first few stations had NO water. then, they were handing out small bottles without caps - someone said they were recycled bottles they had filled from a hose.

  • Comments: Phenomenal race. I will return, without a question. Pre-race banquet was expensive for family. Volunteers and organization was exceptional. This is truly a premiere race event and I would recommend it to anyone. Single loops were great, and the bike and run courses were scenic and fun. Penticton is very supportive of the event and the spectators are awesome. My biggest negative comment is that the town is certainly gouging the athletes - minimum 5 night stay at $250 / night. I am itching to come back, but even for a road trip from Calgary, this is a very expensive trip.
