  • Comments: I really enjoyed this race. The course was great with a few hills to add character but nothing too impossible, and the city really came out to support the runners. The security checkpoint in the morning should have been planned better, but at least the race was delayed (they said due to an accident, but I have a feeling it was because so many racers weren't through by 7am). Post race food was just okay (chocolate milk? pizza? anything with protein??) but when dealing with almost 10,000 people I guess you can't expect gourmet fixings. Didn't have to wait too long for a massage which was great and the live band was a nice touch. Overall a great race!

  • Comments: My dad had run this race prior years and never had any real complaints. The 2014 race was horribly unorganized and an overall terrible experience, not including my injury during the run.

  • Comments: This is a great big city race with tremendous crowds. A really fair course, not too many hills. The people are really encouraging - the city does a great job for this race,

  • Comments: This is a beautiful race and I always love visiting Philly. It's such an easy trip from DC and there are so many delicious and affordable places to eat. I don't think the race is as flat as they advertise it, but I'm also a flatlander, so grain of salt. The course is gorgeous and well-supported and the race itself is really well-organized. I may look to run it again next fall if I don't get into NYC.

  • Comments: I absolutely loved this race! Philly is an amazing city and the course takes you through history as you run past all several monuments and museums. The support on the course was spectacular and there were very rarely sections of the course where there were no spectators cheering you on. Parking was easy for the most part and the expo was awesome.

  • Comments: POST RACE FOOD: COULD HAVE BEEN BETTER. NEED MORE PROTEIN! List of interesting sights/costumes: 1. Trash bag guy; wearing two trash bags, about 70 years old, but hey, he's out there! 2. Power walker starting in first corral!?! Was toward the front of black corral, and we passed him within a mile of the start. 3. Spiderman suit; looked like cycling outfit. Spidey was hurting around 25 miles. 4. Brer rabbit. White rabbit hat, strapped on like a helmet. Over 6 ft tall. 5. (Two) Minnie mouses. 6. Dancing Taco and company cheering us on. 7. Batman playing Rocky tunes on trombone. 8. Drummer with really bored dog in east Manayunk 9. R&B band in Manayunk. Could have been more upbeat.

  • Comments: I'll take the Philadelphia Marathon over the NYC Marathon any day. It's one of my favorite marathons. It's a tour through American history. It's picturesque. The course is fast. Just an awesome city and awesome race all around.

  • Comments: The race was good, but being in a city makes somethings like the driving and parking a pain, especially at the race expo. The course was nice and there were plenty of well manned water stops and good crowd support.

  • Comments: Overall, this was a great first marathon experience. It wasn't a perfect day but that was fine. I learned what it meant to push through feeling crappy. I learned that 26 miles is far, but 26.2 is ridiculously far. And I learned that I really, really adore chicken broth.

  • Comments: Not sure the price is worth rolling the dice on the potential for bad weather. Its an expensive race if you don't make the early deadlines. I think its time to look into early races or some in warmer climates.

  • Comments: I feel like this race was too crowded. This year there were over 20,000 for the combined races - at least a 10% increase from past years. During the first 10 miles when the course was on philly streets it was very difficult to pass people at times. Even after the 1/2 marathon finished - the crowd did not thin out very much.

  • Comments: Excellent race. Great course - enough hills to keep it challenging and interesting, but not too difficult. Great scenery. Very well-organized and no shortage of volunteers or food and water, even for us BOPers. Could have had a little more going on (or at least some finishers' gear for sale) after the race, though quite honestly I don't know if we would've stuck around for it anyway (needed to get back to clean up and check out of the hotel).
