  • Comments: Very well organized, great race website. Expo was nice. Course was nice, saw lots of town. Mildly hilly, but nothing too bad. Plenty of water stops. The did pass out Gatorade chews, but no gels. This was well publicized beforehand, though. Post race spread was adequate. My only complaint was the T shirt. After 50 marathons, I don't get hung up on ugly shirts. You can pay $35 for a nice looking race shirt online, but they didn't have any at the expo to buy. You only get a Finisher's shirt when you finish. For $135 entry fee, I would have expected to get the nice one, too. I have done many races, with much lower entry fees, that will give a race shirt, plus a separate finishers shirt, or some other swag. I was still prepared to shell out the extra cash at the expo or at the post race spread, but there were no such shirts available there to buy.. It's a minor gripe in the big picture, but it is one of the more expensive races, with the least amount of perks. Austin is a fantastic

  • Comments: Top notch race. The course is tough with the hills. However the organization, all the aid stations, and crowds make it worthwhile.

  • Comments: I cannot say enough about the organization of this event. The volunteers were beyond incredible. The aid stations, even for us back of packers, were always well staffed and stocked. never did they run out of anything. There were medical stations at every water stop with Vaseline and band aids. The course was safe and really nice. Even though during my dark miles I said I would never do this again, we all know that's not true! I cannot say enough to Haley for being such a wonderful friend and keeping me moving forward, even during the times I said I hated her. And what can you say about a friend who drives 4 hours with a backpack of heaven. Thanks Shannon. And a big big high five to my most wonderful husband who finished his first half after his back surgery last year!

  • Comments: No fault of the race organizers (I think). But, they need to really make the point before hand that, for example 4:00hr pace group means 4hr marathon, not half! Two years in a row I blew tons of energy going around folks that were walking within the first mile. Or doing a easy Sunday stroll.

  • Comments: Good race. Finisher shirt too small and trouble at the expo day prior (no backpack left when we checked in). Got an email, Back pack will be shipped within the month. I'll still do it again if I'm here next year

  • Comments: Good race overall. Plenty of aid stations, although I don't really think there were quite as many bands playing on the course as advertised. Not a big deal though. Race started right on time, and the finish chute and area was very well organized. Would have liked better food, but I know that's tough to provide at race this size.

  • Comments: Austin is awesome with soooo many good-looking women. ATX came over and gave us some eye candy. Thanks ATX for that. Had I run a bit faster she swears she would've shown me her boobs. I am going to train like a CHAMP for next year!!!

  • Comments: The expo wasn't as good as Houston, and I liked the wave/separate start locations at Houston better. This wasn't bad at all, the clothe check was great, volunteers were great along the course, and I enjoyed the course scenery. Of course, the weather was perfect for me, and having had an awesome day...this race is AWESOME. And if I live in Austin someday, it's one that I'll do the half or full in several times again! I'm a little partial to it right now I think! :)

  • Comments: I didn't stick around for the marathon activities, but they looked decent. The free food selection was pretty limited, though the chicken noodle soup was a nice touch. Still, it's a well run race with lots of volunteers and a fairly pretty course that winds through a variety of Austin neighborhoods. 10th largest marathon in the country now, apparently.

  • Comments: Speactators were awesome! Course was crowded while the 1/2 folks were around, they split off before mile 10 and life became nice. They helped keep me slow the first few miles so I got warmed up properly.

  • Comments: We get to Austin late or the expo because my frends are tards. So we head to the expo and get our packs - I was a little dissapointed by the expo, but no worries. I think Whiterock is a better race in terms of the even't aspect of the thing, but still, most of the Mary was downhill, so whaat's to complain about? One of our group wanted to go to Run Gear to try to get a Jacket as the pickings were pretty slim so we rolled to run gear. Run gear did not have any jackets and looked at us like we were idiots, so to put them in their place we bought ridiculously overpriced rain and cold gear from them. That 'el show em.

  • Comments: This is a really great race, despite my own experience. There were plenty of volunteers and well-stocked water stops and the post-race spread was really good. They had the same stuff outside that I had in the DC finisher's area, I just didn't have to wait on line! The delay in the start time was due to the freezing rain we had overnight, so they pushed back the start time by 30 minutes. It wasn't due to the organizers. It was hard to enjoy the rest of the finish area because it was just so cold.
