  • Comments: Great race! I had a blast, and I'm already considering returning next year. Set Up Events always does a quality job. That being said, I was a little disappointed in the quality of the finisher medals. They look cheap, and are not up to the standard that's been set at other races. Bring back the pint glasses! Also, as a vegan, I would really like to see more vegan-friendly food options at the end of races. I was thrilled that subway catered, but all the subs had cheese. I pulled the cheese off a veggie sub and enjoyed it, but it would be nice to have more options.

  • Comments: This was my first Olympic tri. Overall, it was a great experience and an eye opening for what I have to do to get more competitive in my age group...lots of work ahead of me.

  • Comments: The event is great. I'd prefer the run course not have loops, but not a huge deal. It still surprises me how fast the median paces were, just over 20 mph on the bike and 8:04 on the run, wow. The run was hillier that I'd like, but not inappropriately so. Is there anything Setup could do to punish drafters more? It was pretty ridiculous. I'd love to have seen some of those guys get hit with 10 or 12 minutes of penalties.

  • Comments: Had issues with the long check in time. Shouldn't take 20+ minutes for 600 people. Only course complaint was the water bottle handoff was on a stretch of road I was doing 30mph on! Move that to a slight incline, not at the bottom of a hill. One complaint, not really against anyone in particular but there was so serious drafting going on, especially by some groups of 40-44 AG. I'm talking 5 in a line 6" from each other's wheel. None of those guys got caught. Come on people. Competition at this event was the best top to bottom that I have seen. This was a double points event for the Setup Events NC series and a lot of big guns from all over the state were here. As they say, you have good days and you have bad days. This wasn't a good day.

  • Comments: Setup Events does a great job. Tried to get a massage, but there was a very long waiting list and most people on it did not get a massage.

  • Comments: Good local race. Didn't do as well in my age group as last year's race since the number increased from 4 to 15 guys from all over NC. Guess its become pretty popular in year 2.

  • Comments: Setup Events did a great job as usual. Everyone warned me that it's a little risky going to a new event, but I'm glad I did. Mostly because it forced me out of my comfort zone. Not sure if I will do this event next year yet, but will definitely consider Over the Mountain and look for another International. With my foot healed now I might make next year's scheduled a little more aggressive. We'll see.

  • Comments: Very well run race for a first time event. They might be able to re-route the run to make it a little less hilly. Two of the hills were very challenging.
