  • Post race activities? Good
  • Overall course based on my ability: Just right

  • Comments: I understand that it was hotter than blazes out there, but I had to wait at a couple of water stations for fluid. Other than that, well run. I liked the new course EXCEPT the finish up hill...for about a mile. That sucked.

  • Comments: I did like the course and think the hills would haven't been much of a factor if the weather conditions were more favorable. I suspect I will seek revenge on this course sometime in the future. Always have a good time in Madison and it was definitely a fun time.

  • Comments: I think the new race director did well to change the course to a flatter route, but having three start areas, three routes, inadequate port-a-johns, and poorly controlled start made it all feel cut rate. Last year's event felt more polished and enjoyable, despite the hassle of having a different start/ending location.

  • Comments: I really would have preferred to do a sub 2:10, which I barely did if you ignore that bathroom break. But I am happy finishing my 1st half, just gives me more to shoot for in the future (maybe the new Madison Mini?). Definitely will not be trying to push 9 minute miles for Chicago.

  • Comments: It's a great race. Big enough to feel like you are in a race and have spectators, but not the cattle drive that Indy can sometimes feel like. I would have liked to have seen more porta-potties on the course, but that's trivial. I'd do it again.

  • Comments: Good race, but they have a severe port-a-potty shortage at the start. Post-race goodies are abundant, and they actually go a little easy on the runners with the course. They had the opportunity to take us up some really killer hills on the UW campus, but they were nice and sent the course around them. This made the course mostly flat with some long rollers in the middle.

  • Comments: Awesome race! I'd recommend it to anyone. Plus Schwammy took me to the `Essen Haus' German bar and grill und wir trinken Deutsche bier. Es was sehr gut!

  • Comments: Nice course if you like running on city roads and bike paths. Nice scenic tour of Madison, great festival atmosphere, and lots of participants. Just a few hills but nothing major. Nice spectators in the neighborhoods with hoses, music, and support. One group had a free beer stand, no I didn't partake.

  • Comments: Tony (2goggs) called me enroute and was waiting for me around 6:30 by the shuttle buses. What a Wingman! ;) After getting dropped off before the start, the Port-A-Potties had long lines and were moving VERY slow. I was waiting in line for about 20 minutes (2goggs can vouch) and had about 2 minutes to get to the start. They needed a few extra stalls, or should tell people they only have a 1 minute time limit! I found my place around the 1:50 pace group, got up on the barricade and yelled out for Tony and brayed, LOUDLY, and had a number of people looking at me, like "what the heck are you doing?". Lo and behold, you couldn't plan this any better, but someone asked me "DONKEY?", and it was JoeRunner (Terri). We introduced ourselves to each other and wished each other luck. Turned out later, after Tony called me after the race, that he was with the 2:20 pace group at the start and had to battle his way up through the course, and finished around 1:44, 1:45! GREAT JOB, 2GOGGS! I

  • Comments: They could really improve this race by doing wave starts, and having a better food situation at the end. They could at least have tubs of water and gatorade. They handed us a bottle of water at the end, but otherwise you had to wait in the killer long line.

  • Comments: On a *normal* day there would have been enough aid stations, but it was just so darn hot I was wishing they were every mile. Not sure who wants to have a brat after running a HM or Marathon, but this one ends at Brat Fest. If there was normal post-race food it wasn't obviously located, cause I didn't see it. Had two scoops of great ice cream instead!
