  • Comments: The company is notorious for running out in stations and emails in the past haven't helped, they just don't care, it seems, and slower people get the short end of the stick. Volunteers had left a biking trail at the end of the bike leg and the one sign was ambiguous and I mostly got through correctly by luck and checking the ground for gel packets and bottle debris that assured me I was in the correct path. No excuse to run out of Gatorade and cups (some people "recycled" cups, I can reach that point, but didn't in this tri) in a Half. When they already know it has happened in the past. And I had emailed them that people had missed turns in that trail in the past and they assured me better markings and more people. NO people and one bad marking. Yep, like they don't care. Post-race: I don't do ice baths. I just don't. I do a warm bath with Epsom salts and that seems to work for me. Minimum soreness and I think with proper run training I would have had NO soreness at all.

  • Comments: This is my 6th BBSC event and was great although check-in took too long and they were a little slow to post the official results/splits this time. As far as on course everything was good. They were out of gatorade at one run aid station but they were getting refills and had gatorade the next time I passed them. I really just love the venue and course of this race. Lake mead is nice and the bike course is world class. I will be putting this one on the calender for next year again.

  • Comments: Now my comments on the race organization. I'm giving BBSCTRI a mulligan on this one, because I've done other BBSCTRI events that were fine. That said I have many complaints. A few of them are: - First, the packet pickup being so far from the start. It took over an hour. If you were staying at the hotel, you were looking at nearly 1/2 day just to get your packet, get set up at T1 (mandatory Friday night T1 setup) and back to the hotel. And the line in the hotel for packet pick-up was a joke. - My brother and group of sprinters ended up going several miles further up the trail off course, because the volunteer got to her station late and there was no signs of any kind. - I know the volunteers are tired by the time the 1/2's get there, but there were several stations where they just didn't seem to care anymore (having said that.... there were some that were GREAT). - The finish was so uneventful, I was sure I had come down the wrong chute. Not to mention I was doubled over in pain, bloody

  • Comments: This is usually a very well run race and I always recommend it. 2 items that needed improvement: The packet pickup was from 3-8 on Friday (line took 45 minutes) with a mandatory T1 bag drop off 30 minutes away. Maybe have them at the same place? A quarter mile out of transition they forgot to open a gate across the road. One volunteer yelled "just go left" which would have added about 4 miles to the ride. A group of us had to throw our bikes over the gate while they got the key. I heard they got the gate open pretty quickly. Volunteers were great! They were all dying in the heat too and boy were they busy. Almost everyone was taking 3-4 cups at every water station. Overall good race on a tough course.
