  • Comments: Really like what the RD is doing with this event. Great course, awesome support, plenty of live music, and a wonderful post race set-up. The only thing missing is the beach, otherwise this race gives you a taste of everything Sarasota has to offer.

  • Comments: I have to give them Kudos. This is an inaugural event and it was spot on. Well run from start to finish. The bands were all different, and all fun, especially the band between the bridge and St Armands. Soul Sensation was a real good high energy act. The post run party food was one of the best spreads I have ever seen at a race. The only thing holding them back from a 5 is if there are more Porta Potties.

  • Comments: Third time I've done this race. First time was in 2009 at age 55 when I did it with my son, Scott. My initial motivation was to train for a HM during the triathlon off-season because my running was such a blantant weakness. Missed 2010 and 2011 due to injuries. Did it last year, but wasn't really properly prepared. Trained much better this year, which resulted in a PR (and nine minutes faster than last year's disaster). I'm never going to be a great runner, but hey, somebody's got to be at the BOP. ;) Even at almost 60 I feel that I can continue to improve. I guess that's partly a function of getting a relatively late start in endurance sports. But the most important thing is that I really enjoy training for, and participating in, this race. I feel blessed that I can still do this stuff at my age, especially twelve years after my open heart surgery. Like is good, even at the BOP. :)

  • Comments: This race continues to improve and I hope to keep doing it. I might relay next year with Kelly, just to change things up.

  • Comments: This race will always be special for me since it was my first distance race. As long as I continue to run, I will continue to run this race.

  • Comments: Was good until last three miles. Had hoped to do around 2h:50m, so finishing over 3h was disappointing, but not terrible. Seemed lack a bit of motivation this time. Think I can do better at this distance. Thinking about doing another Half sometime later this year.

  • Comments: This was a really nice half. Despite the start line corrals being pointless... they did a wonderful job with the race. There were lots of friendly volunteers at the hydration stops and several medic tents filled with really friendly med student types. There was a great drum group at the base of the bridge turn around. The cops were amazing at keeping the traffic in line and not holding up the runners. The only things they could've improved was the start corrals and leaving enough space for the lead runners once they've doubled back- it seemed like they had to do a bit of swimming upstream for a while. I would do this course again if I lived locally.
