  • Comments: To finish an Ironman race and to be able to call myself an Ironman I feel extremely blessed. To be able to say I have gone thru the Ironman journey twice and have successfully crossed another finish line is beyond anything I could have ever imagined for myself. With that being said I still feel a bit disappointed in my performance at both Lake Placid and especially Texas. I really felt like the Texas course was technically so much easier than Lake Placid with an extremely flat bike course which should have given way to a great marathon. I hate to make excuses but I think when the temp dropped during the rain it sent my body into a tailspin that I was never able to recover from. As I sit here finishing this report I have a true passion for endurance sports and feel like I have yet to execute the perfect race. If God willing and my family will allow I will most likely head to Madison in 2017 with a fire and rage ready to conquer the hills of Madison. I can't at this time make that commitment

  • Comments: I'm giving myself a 5 on mental effort for figuring out my nutrition and hydration on the fly and making it stick to the end. I swear I felt better after this race than my marathon, lol.

  • Comments: This race deserves more than your prototypical 5 stars. The folks at Ironman and The Woodlands did an amazing job. It was a perfect race do complete my first full distance race. The spectators and volunteers deserve all the credit.

  • Comments: There is a lot of distance between the registration, transition, swim start, finish line, transition gear bag. Count on doing an extra 2-3 miles of walking on race day. You really need to keep fluids up and keep cool with lots of ice. I used 60 cups of ice down my shirt on the run. It would be very easy to get heat exhaustion if you get behind. The humidity really adds to the heat index. With it being early in the year most folks did not have a chance to train in the heat. We had snow 2 weeks before the race. It was a hard race, but for my fitness and condition of my knee muscle it was a soiid effort on my part, especially to not walk on the last lap.

  • Comments: Great venue, great location and fun race! Had a great time with Christine Stotler as well, and with my Uncle Pete and Aunt Jane, and very happy that I was able to do this race. Was a very difficult run, but I was able to RALLY BACK and finish with a decent time! Was very happy overall with my race because I drew strength from having to overcome these issues and finish strong!

  • Comments: Other than the horrible smelling and tasting water this is a great race. The venue is fantastic, especially the run along the lake. My wife absolutely loved it and staying at the host hotel made their day even better. I will be back next year at another attempt. this time I won't forget to chew on the most powerful peppermint gum I can find before I get in the water to hopefully kill some of the horrible taste of the water.

  • Comments: I absolutely loved this event! The crowd support is nothing short of amazing. You always make a plan and try to plan for everything but the one thing I couldn't plan on was getting sick on the bike. Had I not gotten sick and stayed properly hydrated could I have had a better bike split? Could I have run to my potential? Who knows. Maybe one day I will find out

  • Comments: loved the course. loved the volunteers. could've used some seats/tables after the finish. but otherwise, it was incredibly painful, but overall a great experience. In the last miles of the run, I couldn't imagine ever wanting to do this again; now, a couple of days removed, I can't wait.

  • Comments: The athlete area after the race had no seating or shade and all they had were rows of tables with no chairs out in the blazing sun. This to me after an IM is unacceptable. We pay lots of money for a race that should have the post race details covered. Seems later that night after many complaints the chairs surfaced. I also think burritos are a poor choice of food after a race. To me pizza is cheap and easy and it really hits the spot. Just my preference. Last rant is to give out cold IM perform drinks at the finish and not just water and cokes.

  • Comments: Overall was a great race experience. While I didnt hit my time goals, the bigger goal was to have fun and enjoy the experience, that goal was accomplished. The finishing line was something I will never forget. The crowd make you feel like a rock star.

  • Comments: I loved this race. It was my first Ironman and I had a blast. The heat was terrible but I expected no less. I am considering doing this one again next year or St. Louis. I would recommend this race to others. The venue was great, the volunteers were incredible, and the crowds were awesome.

  • Comments: My family came to this race thinking it was just another boring triathlon, but they had a blast!!! WTC does a good job of making this race fun for the athletes and spectators a like. I had a great time and look forward to doing another. I AM AN IRONMAN!!!

  • Comments: The post race was probably my biggest disappointment for the day. 1) when I got out of the medical tent, I went to get some food. I don't know what they had in earlier hours, but all they had were some burritos, cookies and soft drinks? I've had better at my local sprint races. The burritos were good and they were big, but they didn't even have all of the meat options left to choose from (beef and shrimp were left) 2) I went go to put my name on the list for massages at about 11:35 and they said they close up at midnight and their list already would take them into that time, but I could come back the next morning. SERIOUSLY? I was heading out of town the next morning so this wouldn't help me. For both of these things, it was clearly an issue that it was after 11pm, but, to me, the people finishing then needed more of this kind of stuff (or at least as much as) than people who finished in 10 hours. That just seemed completely unacceptable. Finally, they need to put carpet
