  • Comments: I was really wanting to enjoy myself and not put any pressures on myself. I still beat my slowest overall Tinman time with hardly any training since Honu, and PR'd on my bike split. I'm pretty satisfied for the outcome even though I went into the race with a relaxed mindset. I also didn't have anybody waiting for me at the finish line on purpose to avoid pressure. Even if I decide not to race next year, I will still always do Tinman for tradition

  • Comments: Need porta johns and bathrooms had no toilet paper, start was way too early not even light yet. No drink station on bike, only water, pretzels, Apple chips and some candy. Lords volunteerss and police though, just the bathroom part needs addressing and subpar refreshments

  • Comments: My friend got me into tri's in April. He had his eyes on the Tinman. I'm sorry he couldn't do it this year, but glad he put the idea into my head. Nothing like a goal to keep you moving.

  • Comments: Overall a good race. Well organized and lots of volunteers. Not much as far as post activities, but still very well run. I love the fact that they had local radio DJ at the finish who called out your name. That was a nice touch I have not experienced yet.

  • Comments: Despite my mental battle during the run which I'd like to think I wouldn't have had such a hard time with had my training not been interupted, this was an amazing race!! The courses were great (in every sense) and HPD and the volunteers were wonderful and friendly (I love smiling and talking to them!) I'll definitely be back next year to claim what's mine on the run course! ;)

  • Comments: Overall, I can't complain and I am happy with my results. My overall time was 1.5 minutes faster and I placed higher in the rankings this year than I had in the previous years. Three Tinman Tris and this was my best of the three. I kick myself a little because I did that with minimal training the last month, imagine what I could have done if I had actually put some effort forward and trained a little more consistently.

  • Comments: Other than the swim fiasco, every other part of the race was great. The volunteers were awesome. The waves were kind of illogical to me, not sure what they were thinking there. My watch time is a minute faster than the official time too. Probably due to the screw up with the swim starts.

  • Comments: The most organized, enthusiastic, awesome triathlon race I've ever been a part of. Volunteers were amazing. HPD kept things under tight control. Good bike coral security. Everything seem to go off without a hitch.

  • Comments: Great course. Lots of volunteers. They were actually cheering the competitors instead of texting their friends like I have seen in some of the other races. This was one of the best organized races I have seen. Bike corral was a little confusing at first.

  • Comments: This was a great race to do on vacation. Lots of volunteers. Lots of drink stations. Everyone was very nice. It did get started a little late, and it was difficult to understand when the start was actually going to come. Someone wasn't close to the front of the start letting anyone know anything. Other than that, the race was awesome.

  • Comments: I am please with the race considering a week ago I wasn't sure that I was going to compete because of the broken toe. I imporved by about 5 minutes overall which is pretty decent. T1 was improved from last year due to the use of the Tri suit although still slow because of gingerly running as a result of the toe.

  • Comments: Very well marked and marchalled course. Plenty of police presence to direct/control traffic. Volunteers well scattered throughout the course to provide warnings of road conditions on the bike especially with the sudden rain downpour. Was a great race for my first triathlon. Summary of rankings: Overall entrants: 1106 Finishers: 586 Age group: 54 (56 finished swim) Overall: 186 / 586 Age group: 22 / 54 Swim: 500 / 586 Age group: 50 / 54 T1: 276 / 586 Age group: 29 / 54 Bike: 134 / 586 Age group: 19 / 54 T2: 299 / 586 Age group: 29 / 54 Run: 146 / 586 Age group: 16 / 54

  • Comments: All my previos Tri's I've gone at each separate event at maybe 70-90% effort not wanting to bonk or DNF. I swam, biked, ran one this at pretty near 100% RPE anticipating it being my last event in Hawaii. I either wanted to have my best race or keel over trying. I knew I could do the distances from previous races, i was 8 for 8 completions for the TRI's I've done since last Oct. There were a few time that little voice in my head said "go ahead, take a breather...but, I pressed on and had a great race for my standards / goals. If you've been around the military you'll understand the term "FIGMO". Well, I've got mine, and after nearly four years in paradise, the vacation is coming to an end.........
