  • Comments: I would have liked to have bike aid at the aid stations. They weren't prepared to help with bike technical at all which kind of made the station pointless since the water bottles didn't fit our bike racks and the only gel they had was the double espresso which people that can't have caffeine (or coffee) can't even use. Some of the bike course routing was confusing too. At the bike turn around I was expecting a turn around to come but didn't know if it was here or in 2-3 more miles and the one guy at the turn around with one cone wasn't making any signals to the riders to indicate this was the turn around or where to make our turns. Also one of the road stops there were 8 cars backed up both ways on the 2-lane highway and a police vehicles in the solders. The officer on my side wasn't paying any attention at all to the bike course (just the stopped cars) and I had no idea where the bikes were supposed to pass. All the solders were block by police cars and all the lanes block by

  • Comments: I loved this race. It was my first experience with HITS and I would definitely do another of their races. It's very low key and low pressure. The only two recommendations that I would make is to somehow find a run course that has some shade and to have more aid stations on the run.

  • Comments: This is a very humbling experience for me and my OA Time proves my poor performance. It is a learning experience for me I know what to do next time. I would do the race again its a good preparation for the full ironman. Mark Wilson RD as always did a great job. I just hope more people will appreciate HITS Triathlon. They try to do their best for everyone.

  • Comments: I liked the town, ambience, number of participants, nice Transition areas with enough space for everyone. Good service & friendly. Great place to have your first tri of any distance. T-shirt size is wrong. I'm 6' 177lbs and would have preferred a small. I'm fine with hilly bike ride. I didn't like the run. If run needs to stay that steep then it should be earlier in the year. This race would be perfect with a flat run alongside the river in the shade of the trees. Hopefully they can make this modification. Race director talked about trying to do that next year. Interestingly the race was close in my AG: 5 1/2 minutes faster and I would have placed 2nd. Of course, there are 3 other guys thinking the same. My wife loves the wild flowers in the area and went on a pictures taking frenzy during my race so we both had a great trip.

  • Comments: My terrible run aside, I enjoyed this race. I wasn't sure what to expect from HITS but they put on a good race. The transition area setup was perfect. They have nice large banners directing you where to go and the bike rack/setup was the best I have ever seen. I love those wooden tracks to set your bike in. The bike and run course while very rough and hilly was well marked and stationed with plenty of volunteers and food/drink at each one. The post race activities were weak though. Would've liked some substantial food and beer, but instead it was nothing but snack type foods (crackers, bananas, etc). Like others have commented, I was handed a warm bottle of water at the finish. Other than that HITS convinced me that they can put on a good race and I would not hesitate to do another one.
