  • Comments: What a great confidence boost heading into Vineman. With my Vegas slot already obtained, I'll be going there to just try and put together a solid race and bring some confidence in that distance to Vegas. I've already got a lot of good ideas on what I'll do different than Boise. On a side note, Karin raced the sprint, first race since Kona last year and finished 1st in her age group and second overall with a jogging run. Look for her to light up the second half of the season as she continues to get back in race shape and build her run. Special thanks to all my sponsors Wattie Ink, blueseventy, KSwiss, Reynolds Wheels, Scott Bikes, ISM Saddles, Power Bar, Kask Helmets, FuelBelt, 454 Tattoo and Speedfil. Corporate Sponsors 101 Pipe & Casing, Kurt Orban Partners, and Wins Wheels. My coach, Brian Stover, from Accelerate 3. My body mechanic, Blair Ferguson, from Ventura Training and Athletics. My girlfriend, Karin...who I learn from everyday and every race. She is the reason

  • Comments: Swim got started about 30 minutes behind published schedule. Other than the late start, the event was very well laid out and organized. Lots of enthusiastic and helpful volunteers. Traffic was controlled by Highway Patrol, local police and RP Barricade Company. This is a larger sized event, probably 800 - 900 athletes. Post race included bar-b-que and beer garden area.

  • Comments: Decent race on a new course. It was a little boring, but I kind of liked the 2 loop swim, I also kind of liked the out and back run on the same flat, straight course you already saw on the bike. Makes it much more a mental exercise. I would do this race again.

  • Comments: My first Oly, and I did not like it. In Sprints, my pain is from exertion, but my pain in this race was all embarrassing stuff like GI, blisters, chafing, etc. (Especially when I used Body Glide and Chamois Butter on the parts that I identified as problem areas. These were all new today. I am a recreational Triathlete trying to get in shape. As a USAT qualifier, the Oly was definitely for a more hard-core set.

  • Comments: This is my first race, so I don't have a lot to compare it to. But it seemed really well organized. There were lots of volunteers, the course was very well marked (except for the swim), and the post-race activities were great! I enjoyed this race very much, and I have lots of things to improve for the next one.

  • Comments: Overall a very good race. Although I just realized I think they said they'd have aid on the bike course but I don't think they did, probably should check the website to confirm though. It was organized and the volunteers were great, they had some adorable little girls at the finish offering water and to take off my chip. Like I said, not an A race for me, but just something to keep up the tri mindset and have fun, and it was a good location and course for that. It was nice to do a flat race for once. Real goal was to beat myself and I bested my Carpinteria time by 12 minutes and finally got sub 3 which is awesome! Of course Carp was hillier but not the point. My swim improved by 6 minutes and my run by 2, so as long as I can keep improving I'm happy.

  • Comments: I can find no fault with this race. It's flat and fast. The weather was perfect. The water was calm. Volunteers were plentiful and enthusiastic. Really well done by the organizers, the park, and nature.

  • Comments: Got plenty of rest and did not work out too hard this week so i had plenty of energy for this years Race . Also took the swim at a confortable pace awoiding traffic and only started my RACE once i hit the beach on the way back from the swim. Maybe should do last brick 2 days before the race instead of the day before.

  • Comments: This was a great race. Ventura is a really enjoyable city, the weather was perfect for a race, and the race was well organized. There were lots of volunteers and except for my little problem with the swim course everything was very professional. The best part, though, has the be the post-race BBQ with great food and a cool environment to hang out for an hour or two.

  • Comments: Nice event...can't beat the free BBQ and beer (though they were running out of stuff by the time my wife finished and cleaned up her gear). Tons of volunteers (and probably the most appreciative bunch I've seen). Very, very, flat course on both the bike and the run. Good race for anyone making a first attempt at an Oly. I'd give this a "5" rating, except for the degree to which the results were screwed up.

  • Comments: This was my second sprint last year so I basically knew the course, and knew it was flat. After last year's race thought this would be a good first Oly, and it was. My goal was 3:00, my secret goal was 2:50, and anything in 2:40s I'd be ecstatic. Needless to say I was! It's a fast course, so most people are under 3:00 This is a good race for a good cause in a god venue. I'll do ths one again

  • Comments: The only thing I would have liked was one aid station on the ride, and more importantly some gatorade on the run course, because the electrolytes were gone by the second run loop. I wish they kept track of transition times.
