  • Comments: I really can't be that disappointed. It's like school where there's a curve. All you can do is your best, whether you win anything or not is (a) irrelevant -- although fun -- and (b) all depends on who else shows up. Last year I would have smoked 'em. But, last year I couldn't smoke 'em. This was my first tri ever two years ago, and I've taken ove 7 minutes off my time, which is pretty darn good considering my swim has been about the same all three years. Almost 4 minutes off last year's time, which in a course this short is a lot. It's not the greatest race, but it's my local race. All of my friends and training partners are volunteers or RDs or coordinators. There isn't one part of the race, from swim start, to ext, to T1, to bike in, to run out, to the announcer, where I didn't hear a little extra cheering. It's pretty cool. I'll be back, either as a racer (of course, now I need to shave another 4 minutes off my time and.....) or volunteer

  • Comments: I really like this race. It is certainly unique as the sprint triathlon of sprint triathlons. I'll do better in a longer race, but this one makes for a nice change of pace from the multitude of "same-old, same-old" sprint triathlons, with their virtually similar distances; 800 yard swim, 10 mile bike, 3 mile run. There is talk of making the bike a three lap, nine mile course next year, and that will be to my advantage, but I hope they don't, because then it's just another "beach-city" tri. Long live the Redondo Beach Triathlon!

  • Comments: My friend is the Race Director so of course it is a great race! I knew a lot of the voluntees, as well. A very pleasant environment to race in.

  • Comments: Fun race. Too small a race (distance wise) to worry about drink stations. Nice transition area in park for friends cheering us on and to stay around for post-race activities. Really like the challenge fo the longer swim (and the shorter run). Would like to see a longer bike course - maybe 12 miles.
