  • Comments: This venue is absolutely breathtaking. The course was incredibly beautiful. You get views of Mt. Bachelor almost the entire time on the bike and the Deschutes River on the run. The volunteer staff during check-in seemed kind of miserable but the staff on the course was amazing. So many aid stations on the run course and lost of solutions to keep you cool and hydrated! The activities in the athlete's village was pretty cool too. Getting a voucher for free food (which was delicious) and free beer was a nice treat!

  • Comments: Kind of unfair eval for drink stations, because it was really just one missing drink station that really twisted me mentally. Other than that, the volunteers were great and it was well organized for WHY racing's first time running this race. Most importantly, this is one of the most beautiful settings for a race from start to finish. It really is worth doing any year!

  • Comments: I would like to do this race again in the future to redeem myself on the run. The heat played a big factor for me and I wasn't as precise with my food as I should of been. I enjoyed the event and recommend it to others. The race director saw me two days later and asked what I thought of it. It is nice to see the race director really cares and wants to hear feedback and does so by approaching people directly. Also the finishers medal is the best I've got. Portland 2013, IM CDA 2013, 70.3 Lake Stevens 2012, 70.3 Boise 2012. Very nice medal.

  • Comments: No aid stations for first 3 miles of run!!! No porta-potties at front of T2. Confusion (I was not the only one - teammates also commented) as to which mat was the "finish mat" - there were SO many. Would liked to have seen a half-way point marker for timing purposes. Had a great race. Goal time was 8:00!

  • Comments: one comment. aid stations kinda sucked. i know its a bad thing to say, and i really do appreciate the volunteers, but they need to know how to sell what they have. "WATER HERE" "ELECTROLITES HERE" something...anything! Luke McKenzie raced this race. fuckin awesome :) oh one more last gripe. if you race in the elite wave, you shouldn't be able to win the age group. sorry, but if you are starting with 20 ppl and get your own bike rack and are racing for $$ you dont get to double up and win age group. not athletes fault, RD

  • Comments: Beautiful course! The bike ride was simply stunning. I'm happy to have beaten my 70.3 time from Austin last year. I beat that time by roughly 40 minutes in much colder water and a much hillier (and 2 miles longer) bike ride. Will probably return in 2012.

  • Comments: This is an amazing race venue and is run very nice. The pre and post race atmosphere is excellent and my whole family raced this weekend. I think WTC(M-dot) could learn a lot from this race as far as putting on a great race experience. Can't wait for next year.

  • Comments: It is funny but the only time I felt bad about my DNF was watching my friends cross the finish line. Although the swim of shame to the beach wasn’t much fun either. I feel as long as I learned something from the event it wasn’t necessarily a waste. Sure I didn’t get to really race but, I am going to be just that much fresher and better trained for Troika in five weeks. I also learned to pay attention to water temperature and educate myself for colder water swimming.

  • Comments: They do not list the total number of participants, just the number of finishers. Which totally sucks cause I do not know how I really did against the field, just those who were strong enough to finish. There are people who's placement is higher then the total number of finishers so I know there are way more then 355 participants. Post race kind of sucked. Took forever to find the food tent and the food was not that good. This race is also a point to point to point race which is a nightmare if you do not have friends to help you out (and thankfully I have the best). The course though has views to keep you entertained all day long. Mountains, lakes, rivers, some snow, it had it all. Although I really wanted to jump into a river or two during the hot run and really had kayak envy as I watched all the people floating the river.

  • Comments: I had some lofty goals for this race and some fast predicted splits. My goal was to finish in under 5 hours, and I would have been stoked with any time under 5:30. For some reason I'm not dissapointed to finish in over 6 hours because I suffered so much just to complete the race. I have bonked before...but not like this...and definately not twice in one race!! I had to dig deeper than I have ever gone to complete this race. I felt every emotion along the way. There is no way I even considered quitting the entire time! It just wasn't an option! I knew that Zoe and Zed were at the finish line waiting to see their dad finish...I thought about that the entire time I was on the run course!

  • Comments: The weekend is a lot of fun and they do a great job. The swim would have been on time if not for an accident which delayed a bus. I would recommend this race because it is so pretty and felt really safe and organized. They sun is relentless and the altitude, especially on the run, is high but what a great experience.

  • Comments: The event is amazing. Sunriver (central Oregon) is simply the best. I live in Bend, so I'm biased, but I truly believe you can't get a better environment. The race was very well orgainzed and staffed.
