  • Comments: It was an amazing experience and something that I will never forget. I will do another someday. I just dont feel the need to to focus entirely on that distance. I enjoy the short course racing and being able to redline it for most of the race, also I like to race more often then 2 or 3 times per year.

  • Comments: This race is about as easy as Ironman courses get. The weather was awesome except for the slight wind on the bike. I really like panama city beach this time of year. The weather was is great for working out and sitting on the beach. I am probably going back to panama city beach next year at the same time even though I am not doing the race again just because I liked the area and the price and quality of accommodations so much.

How do you like me now???? :) Night of Ironman: Never doing another one Day 1 after IM: No, not doing another one, but never say never Day 2 after IM: I dunno, maybe? Day 3 after IM: which one should I do? Day 4 after IM: which one which one?? Day 5 after IM: cant wait to my next one!!! haha "I firmly believe that any man's finest hour, the greatest fulfillment of all that he holds dear, is that moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle -- victorious."

  • Comments: The beaches are beautiful. I prefer the low-key, mellow vibe of South Walton County to stay for the race. Some of the roads, maybe 20 miles or so, were pretty rough but not that big of a deal. Highly recommend.

  • Comments: Overall I'm very happy with my race. I finished strong and had a great time along the way. I learned a lot at this race and feel like next time I may just be able to race it. I can't thank Tyra and Denise enough for running around all day to see us at several points on the course, even if it was just for few seconds, it made a difference to see a friendly face.

  • Comments: This has been one heck of a year for our family. We have had several "things" come up...some pretty serious. But, we continue on. This Ironman belongs to my family as much as it does to me. They have made as many sacrificies as I have. If it was not for their support there would be no way I could have done this, and it would not mean as much. My husband - the little nudges when that early alarm goes off...the "I'm proud of you" when I am "complaining", or that little wink :) My kids - who at age 5, 7, & 8 can tell you so much about training, swimming, biking, running, & Ironman. And their desire to run and start doing triathlons - inspires me. My parents - that understand & support my desire to do this thing called Ironman and ask daily "what's on the training schedule today?"....then just listen......... There is also another group that has helped me along this journey. There is a "little group" that many BT'ers may have seen (it is at the top of the mentor group section

  • Comments: Mike, my parents and in laws all deserve a huge huge huge amount of thanks for all their support during my journey. I know both sets of grandparents think they got the best part - time with the grandkids w/out me around to police them but I could have not done it without my wonderful family. Thank you. I love you. This day will remain one of the best in my life. I had a perfect race and could not have asked for anything more. Lots of trauma leading up to it but everything worked out and this was a spectacular journey. I've learned a lot about myself and hope the lessons I've learned will help make me a better mother, wife and person.

  • Comments: I like this race enough that I did it in 2007..again this year, and signed up for 2010. I have an awesome coach who inspires me(he raced KONA after being hit by a car the day before...then raced IMFL to take 1st in his AG and was 3' shy of setting a course record)....and had an amazing support crew of Toni, Betsy, Bridget and Kris there...I wanted for nothing! I will be back next year and now know for sure what it takes to Kona Qualify. Watch out ladies - I'LL BE BACK ;)

  • Comments: 2006 16:12:12 2031/2192 2008 13:59:04 1790/2271 2009 14:36:30 1991/2423 Honestly I think we all forget sometimes how lucky we are to be able to do this crazy sport. Its easy to get caught up in times and paces etc. I'm not the most gifted athlete out there but I have a lot of heart and I try my best and grind it out everytime I train or race. I'm thankful I am healthy enough to have the gift of being able to race. This too is for all those who wanted to race but never got the chance. We all travel a different path to get to the start line and you don't know what the journey of the person next to you was. We all need to respect that each time we toe the line. This was not the race I hoped for but retrospectively I dont' know how I could have executed any better. I did the best I could with what I had on that day with the conditions mother nature threw at me. No regrets at all. Thanks to my parents for being iron spectators and sherpas. I know its a long day for them.

  • Comments: This will be my last IM, I had a good time but overall don't get the joy that I do when doing shorter races. I didn't find swimming with that many people fun, after 80 miles on the bike it becomes a task not fun, and running a marathon after all that is pure hell. I really did enjoy the experience and atomosphere, the people are great and volunteer are second to none. I was a little disappointed that they did not give us a results paper, DVD highlight, and finisher certificate for what you pay they don't need to start cutting back the goodies. I will be back as a volunteer or spectator because it's just too much fun to be around. I did PR by 2 hours and 9 minutes.

  • Comments: It was a well run race with lots of volunteers. But it wasn't very spectator friendly. My family said they couldn't find many places to use the bathroom.

  • Comments: In the end I dug as deep as I possibly could and crossed that finish line. Not the way I wanted to finish but I finished with 1:25 to spare! I am looking forward to a redeeming performance at IMWI 2010

  • Comments: I thought this was an amazing race -maybe since it was my first IM I'm not a good judge but compared to all the other races I have competed in there is simply NO comparison -IM does it and does it well! I have never felt more taken care of in a race EVER! I can't wait to not only do the next one but volunteer for one in the coming year! It was an absolute BLAST ...oh and did I mention "I am an Ironman!!!" -little old me! hee hee

  • Comments: I really enjoyed this race. The set-up was OK...Not quite as nice as IMKY, but it's hard to duplicate 4th St. Live in Louisville. Some of the volunteer stations were really good (MASH unit, the female dominatrix, etc), but some were not so good. The spectators were great, and the folks in PCB are pretty friendly. Overall a good race, and one that I will do again (in 2011)!
