  • Comments: First Aqua Bike event for DuTriRun! Well organized overall, with traffic and athletes routed nicely. Walked very rocky-bottomed first 0.1 mile starting leg to first orange buoy. Final 0.3 mile leg of swim course was directly into the sun, unable to see finish arch. Occasionally very bumpy bike course with rolling hills. Bike course had excellent traffic control by officers and clear directional flagging by volunteers, with three refill/aid stations, (water, gatorade & GU), along the way. However, most bike course corners had sand/gravel which is tough for athletes pacing 20+ mph. Very good post-race food offerings plus really nice medals and trophies! Will have to do more hill training in preparation for competing next year!

  • Comments: This is a smaller race- fun and casual- great volunteers (Gloria does a great job!) 3:30 minutes off my PR- which I blame on the ridiculous 1/2 mile hill at the start of the run. lol, but at least there was lots of shade and an interesting trail run once you got up there.

  • Comments: For those looking to step up to a 1/2 ironman this is big enough to get you excited and small enough to be personal. Great venue, for me close to home. I will be back again next year, I hope that race to be a stepping stone to the next level.

  • Comments: I love this race even though I don't like to run on trails. There were mile markers on every single mile of the bike and run which is incredible! Always well-organized. Great it's on a Saturday too, I needed Sunday to recover before going back to work on Monday!

  • Comments: Would recommend. Well organized. Lake is beautiful, ride is very scenic in parts if you are like me and like wide open land and some of the views that come with it. Also, you get a pretty good view of the lake (Lake Winnebago is huge) at parts of the bike which is cool. The run course is technical and not a PR run, but trails are easier on your legs and there are a couple awesome views from up on the bluff. Good support across the board with aid. Stayed in downtown Appleton which was 20 minutes away but had ample restuarants and attractions. Would recommend that too.

  • Comments: Love the shredded turkey they have after, and very excited to see Coke! Wish I had some dry clothes to put on after--everything was soaked from the rain. Thank you God my iPhone was ok in my bento box! We love this race. Lots of people saying it was understaffed in light of the drowning, but never felt that way. Hard to add aid stations as most of the run course is on horse trails and in the woods. Usually not an issue unless it's this hot.

  • Comments: I never saw a potty on the run except right out of transition. Not sure if this is odd at a half IM since it's my first one.

  • Comments: I think there could have been more aid stations on the bike. I know it's Wisconsin but even in the Midwest it gets pretty hot out. I know other people were upset by the aid stations seeming understaffed. I personally had no problems with it.

  • Comments: It was my first half ironman and i had only done a triathlon (sprint) once 2 weeks before. i did my first half marathon 9 months ago and after that decided to be nuts and do the half ironman. started training this winter and was very motivated even tho i was crazy. Im going to take away all the criticism i just gave myself because i finished with a great time for my first time!! im proud of myself and so happy i impressed everyone. im also so amazed at how i got this all together in such a short amount of time. this has been an awesome experience and im so excited this is just the start to my triathlon career :)

  • Comments: Great race. I will be back. I really wanted to break 5:30 but I still did my best and kept pushing. I never let myself get caught up with other runners/riders so I am happy that I just had fun and ran my own race.

  • Comments: Course was nice, not a big fan of the uneven trails very very upsset with how I did, however trails not to blame. No reason that someone who can run a 1:30 half marathon and 7 per mile Olym should be running a 940 run in the half. No exactly sure what happend and feel like I did all this training for nothing. Will need to get over it, try and learn from it and use what I learned for the full next year.

  • Comments: Perfect weather and good course. My only complaint would be that some of the trails were uneven and hard to run on. Other than that I thought the course was setup well. I beat my time from last year by 40 minutes.

  • Comments: Great race, especially for the money. They let my wife announce my finish and she had my 21 month old son say dada into the microphone as I was about to finish, doesn't get much better than that.

  • Comments: I read all the comments and blogs about this race and I do disagree with the folks who say there weren't enough volunteers and aid stations. I was out there for a long time and there was prenty of people helping out. For my first experience in a half distance race this was first rate. From the reasonalbe cost to all the help and aid to a first rate site this was one of the highlights of my life! If you are in the midwest and can get to it this is a race for you.

  • Comments: I really do like this race, even though it doesn't like me. Maybe I will do it next year, maybe I won't. Missed a golden opportunity to break 6 hours, but hard to complain about a 27 minute PR. When I got home, my wife said she was proud of me for my hard work and effort. That was nice to hear. All in all a good day.
