  • Comments: My first race, so I don't have a lot to compare it to, but it was a great time, beautiful ride and a good crowd. The town of Luray helps out a lot and the local volunteers are out in full force. A lot of fun.

  • Comments: I really appreciated the volunteers who were on the bike course at the top of that giant hill. I remember people there last year and it was so nice to have someone cheering for you climbing up that monster. Nobody was there the day before at the Olympic at I missed it!

  • Comments: This was a great race - it was well run and fully staffed. There was some music afterwards but the food was limited to PB&J. We opted for burgers up the road. We'll definitely be back next year - everyone enjoyed the race and venue.

  • Comments: The race was good, it is in a great location and challenges you. They had plenty of water on the run this year, the run is out and back so you had 4 water stops. The post race food this year was not that great, some pretzels, chips and bananas, what happened to the pizza?

  • Comments: This was my first triathlon ever. I've always wanted to do a triathlon, and I always felt that I need to do months and months of training before I even attempted one. I only trained for two months, and I know I could have done a lot better if I had trained better, but I'm so glad that I did it. Now I have goals for next season! I will break the 1:00 bike mark next year. Oh yes. I will.

  • Comments: So, we didn't break any time goals with this relay. But Dianne had told me that she'd be slow and the nice thing about the relay format is that there's WAY less pressure to "win". You just go out and do your thing. And it's fun to help teammates get into things - Dianne doesn't race much, I guess, so it was nice that she was able to come out. So even though our relay team finished DFL, it doesn't really matter to me. I did what I came to do on my two legs, so that's what I care about.

  • Comments: My goals coming into the race were: 1. Have another good OWS experience to set me up for a good showing at Patriot's. 2. Move through both transitions on auto-pilot and improve times. GOALS ACCOMPLISHED! My best swim time and transition time yet. I couldn't be more excited about my swim this time around. Set-up, as usual, does a great job at organization, support and after race goodies. My only complaint today was that due to being in the last starting wave and hence towards the rear of the finishers... all of the aid stations were out of Gatorade/HammerHeed. They only offered water. Not much to complain about on a sprint though. One of the most beautiful courses I've been on and will definitely consider this one again next year.

  • Comments: Need to train more - this is only my second race and it was more difficult than the first one I did in Richmond. But considering I have only 2 months of training under my belt, I'm pretty happy so far. I look forward to my next one in Dewey Beach.

  • Comments: Overall I'd say this is a great race. It is tough, the hills on both the bike and run are a lot unless you train on hills often. But it was well organized and there were plenty of volunteers to make sure everything went off without a hitch. The only negative was that there wasn't a sole checking the bikes as we left transition after the race. I'm not sure what happened but I always hate it when security is that lax!
