  • Comments: Good race. Very well organize and many volunteers with lots of energy. Also, you can't beat the location. However, the bike course was not safe. I didn't feel comfortable and I think that safety should be number 1 priority when organizing a race.I will repeat, only if the bike course is different than biking on the should of a highway with lost of traffic.

  • Comments: Post Race Tid Bits. Only pizza and soda when I finished the race. HUH? They really pumped up the after party, and that was the problem with this race. It was misleading advertising. Keywest was gorgeous. But little of what was promised was delivered. I needed two full bags of IV fluid after the race. The temperature topped out at about 81°. Forecast predicted 65. The heat, after training in frigid temps, hit me hard I guess. The IV’s…. they went down like drinking water. Thank you to the great med staff in med tent! Overall, I’m disappointed in myresults . And I’m frustrated that I’m disappointed with the results, as completing what I did Saturday would have been a small miracle 2 years ago. I finished in 6:40:46. I was hoping to come in at around 6:15 (based on nothing but needing a goal). But considering the swim was .4 miles too long, the bike had a 5 minute delay half way, that is about 15-20 minutes right there. So, I guess I was a lot closer than it looks.

  • Comments: Want to do this one again with the opportunity to actually run the run course.... first time I've had this sort of thing happen and want another crack at it. Love the course, scenery, etc. Race organizers seem very interested in making a better event and improving... I applaud that.

  • Comments: I was excited about doing another Set-Up inc event. It has been a long time for me. This race has some issues they have to work out. #1. I don't trust the race or the director, over the last three months there have been TOO MANY changes in the course, the prize structure, the race form (no iron?!?), next years date, ext. #2 - The race is not much of a value. I do many races every year. and $200 is a fair price for a HIM.. But, it is only fair if you are providing the same experience as the other races. What did the $200 get me? Limited post race food (pizza and soda), no pre race pasta dinner, very small awards, (we did not attend the celebration Sunday (if there was one), so I won't comment on that). #3 - The finish line was very crowded and small. It did not set up well to hang out after the race. And where was the beer?!?!? ( I know it isn't allowed on the beach, so I can answer that question myself) One thing that I really did like about the race is that they had a

  • Comments: This was a fun race. It was tough but enjoyable. I'm sure it's hard to put on an event in Key West in terms of logistics, you can't really close off many sections of road or walks. Plenty of support throughout, well organized. Highly recommended. Would love to do next year's but they moved it back a week to New Year's weekend, so due to work I won't be able to make it.

  • Comments: MY perception of the race was that the organizers had a hard time getting permits. The proposed course seemed to change over the months prior to the race mostly effecting the run. The side walks were OK near Higgs beach were they were very wide. The last 4 or so miles was run on typical 3 foot wide sidewalks that were not closed to pedestrians. The water sponser provided what had to be the worst water I have ever tasted, The 4 people I went to the race with all agreed it tasted like bacon. It felt good poured over the head though. If the weather had been nice I could see this being a great destination race. If the weather is typically bad in January I dont think I would race this one again. Oh I would train harder too.
