  • Comments: Loved the venue! The beach setup is absolutely gorgeous (though, as it turns out, sand is bad if you want to shift)! Very family friendly. My boys (3 and 6) enjoyed playing in the sand and in the lake all day on Saturday. Race is well organized, on time, great volunteers, would love to do this again :)

  • Comments: Very good race, I can't compare it to many tri's or HIM's since I haven't participated in many. But I was really surprised of the lack of food and goodies at the end of the race; maybe I missed it all?!?! Did we have to pay for the Pizza Hut or was that free to participants? I guess I should have walked that area more to find out. But overall, I enjoyed every moment from start to finish and I think I have enjoyed this more than any of my marathons and that is saying a lot considering I've done NYC, Chicago, St. George, etc....but I think I have fallen in love with HIM's!!

  • Comments: I cannot say enough good about the Steelhead race venue and organization. Granted this was my first event but even my gf, who has done numerous WTF HIM and IM along with countless other triathlons, commented on how well organized everything was. From packet pick up to aid stations to the volunteers it was all first class and without a single hiccup.

  • Comments: This is my first 70.3 so I have nothing to compare it to but I thought it was great; there was the store and massage and other things to do. I look forward to doing it again in the future.

  • Comments: Really enjoyed the experience. Was able to check off that I completed a full 70.3 Bummed about the run since the weather conditions overall were spectacular. Really had no outwardly excuses not to end strong. Better luck next year, I hope.

  • Comments: Thanks to everyone for cheering me on. To all you turds who used your I pods and I phone in the back with me. I secretly wished bad things on you for cheating, but I know now you can't help it because rules don't apply to you.

  • Comments: Too bad about the swim, however safety is the number one goal. Well organised and good routes. Athlete briefing well worth it to get idea of where the challenges are and where the road conditions are less than ideal.

  • Comments: Overall, I enjoy doing this race. This is my third time racing here, and unfortunately, the swim has been cancelled twice. That is NOT the RD's fault- they had to make this call. But, it is something to consider when shelling out the money for this race. The bike is pretty easy, even on a windy day, and the run course is fair, but on the boring side. I do kind of like how the run is crowded though, because it's fun to see a ton of other competitors, and have lots of people around- you are never lonely on this course! The volunteers were amazing, the race is very well organized, and there is always great competition that shows up. I had a great time this weekend!

  • Comments: Overall a hollow feeling. Through nobody's fault at the end of the day we didn't do an Ironman. But, I'm proud to be a member of the 69.1 club! We are going to get a sticker for the van! Have dedicated portapotties/food for athletes in transition so we don't have to compete with the spectators. Ironman Racine had this type of setup and it worked well. The bike course was nice, the run course was blah. Felt like we were running thru a parking lot. Volunteers were great!!!! Spectators were few but also very supportive.

  • Comments: Logistically, you have to plan ahead of time for parking, setting up T1, waiting before your wave, etc. But Overall, great race and I will be doing it again next year to get my revenge on the run course.

  • Comments: CAPRI hit a home run with this one yet again! What a great race. To bring up my quote from last year: "It was the most painful, gawdawful experience in my life, I can't wait to do it again!"

  • Comments: There were 2 aspects of this race I'llcomment on. First, the race itself was great. The weather ended up being great, if not a bit hot/muggy for the run, at least it was good for the spectators. And the fact that I shaved an hour and 10 minutes off of last year's time, I'd say that that makes it a success. Now, regarding the other stuff. The coordination of the race I thought was bad. I believe that they had good intentions, but the changes they made from last year were a complete bust. The Expo setup with the different tables was horrible. It took forever to get through the line. Last year it was all at one table and seemed to go so much smoother - I don't think I waited more than 10 minutes. This year they also ran out of large socks, so I got ripped on that, but I decided to grab a small pair for Sue, so at least she got something out of it. Waiting till the finish to hand out the shirts was also horrible. After finishing I had to stand there in line for a good 15 minutes.

  • Comments: I find the larger races a little crazy to be honest. I don't like the scene at kit pick up with everyone all "twitchy" and then at the event itself where some are snapping, snarling and generally just really intense. I'm sure these people exist at smaller events - but there are simply fewer of them. This is my personal viewpoint and I'm comfortable knowing that I like smaller events. This being said - I met some phenomenal people this year. Other than the initial mess at kit pick up (had to fill out a form which backed up the registration process) this race impresses me. It's well organized, the volunteers are wonderful and it's definitely worth doing. Nice t-shirts this year!!
