  • Comments: This is my 3rd RNR. Not many bands on course - I counted 3 (perhaps there were more). Elevation profile for the race was no where close to actual. Race timing update missed my timing strap (it happens, NBD).

  • Comments: So where do I begin??? First I would like to say that I am no expert and I am not a race snob at all. I don't really analyze races too much but I expect to get what I pay for or atleast close to it. A ton of people complained about this race from beginning to end and here are some things I saw at my first (and probably last) RnR event: 1.) GEAR CHECK- Gear check was pretty far from the starting corrals. Some people complained but the way I looked at it, this is DC so logistically there is only so much space. 2.) WATER STOPS- This one kind of threw me through a loop. We get to the first water station and see these HUGE blue water tubs that have like 8 spouts on them. they were sitting on a table with some paper cups but NO VOLUNTEERS! we had to serve ourselves water. This wasnt only at the first stop but ALL of the water stations. I didnt really mind since I wasnt running for a PR or anything but if I was, I would be pissed. I really think alot of this had to do with the weather.

  • Comments: You would think that the Rock N Roll organizers would have the design of finish shutes and gear bag pickup figured out by now. The finish shute was too short and had a hard right hand turn to get to the post-race recovery area. This was just jammed packed and I guess at some point people were forced to walk across the finish line due to the bottleneck. The gear check -- I was in a short line and it took 20 minutes. I will think about this race for next year -- if only to see if I can do better! Nice course. Good organization @ race start.

  • Comments: Excellent race that went of seamlessly. They made everything SO easy. The only issue we had was packet pick-up closing at 7 on Friday, along with the DC traffic - we made it with less than 30 minutes to spare.

  • Comments: Well run race. Tom got my packet the day before. It was easy to get in/out of. The corrals were well organized and they spaced them out so not everyone started in a huge pack at once. Bonus I had a free entry from GU.

  • Comments: Great early season race. Actual time = 1:46:23. Nice PR and I have not been able to train for this. I was really hoping for a PR Yesterday, I was able to drop down to the Half from the full Marathon. During the race, no calf pain whatsoever. My plan was to do an E pace training run, but I went a little faster than that. I didn't race this, since I have not done any speed work, nor have I had any quality runs for about a month. I hadn't run for 2 weeks leading up to this previous Wednesday.

  • Comments: The race would get a higher rating if I enjoyed running more. Cluster trying to get into parking lots; no gels on coarse despite the promise of them; immediately after the finish line there was a huge mash up of people with no where to go. Overall, they did about as well as anyone could do with thousands of people.

  • Comments: Only real negative was the crowds. There were 8000 people doing the half marathon and 4 doing the full. very crowded course. Other than that, it was great. (Wouldn't have minded some pizza at the finish, but the post race refreshments were good otherwise.)

  • Comments: The race was great, running through DC is beautiful and I highly recommend it. The aid stations aren't sufficient for everyone though so I recommend bringing your own fuel/water.

  • Comments: Well, I did it. It was an awesome experience. A good starting point, the hills killed me. They did not look intimidating when I was doing 30mph in my car but running through is a totally different story.

  • Comments: I will never do this race again. For them to run out of cups and water was just unacceptable to me. They knew how many people were racing and this should not have happened. They then asked us to drink after others which I had to do since I needed the water. I know I am not the fastest person and am used to the post race food being somewhat gone and such but for them to run out of cups during the race was horrible. I am so pissed about this and am just glad it didn't screw up my race. They also ran out of GU and if I was counting of them I would have been screwed. I am planning on sending the race org. a complaint letter and will try to get my money back.

  • Comments: Race was fairly organized and course was interesting. There weren't many port-o-potties on the course (I only saw two) which caused me to find a spot behind a stone building on Constitution Avenue. Course ended up being .24 miles long which sucked when you're pushing it at the end. Overall, a good race and a training run for our group. Regardless, exceeded my realistic goal time of 2:20.

  • Comments: No potties on the course. Luckily, I didn't have to go. It was awesome to race with Tim, Brad, Kristin, and Ron. We all got to see each other once on the course, which makes it fun!

  • Comments: Although it didn't effect me, there really weren't many port-o-potties on the course. They had plenty at the start/finish area, which was nice. Post race food was blah...just bagels and bananas..that's it. Post race activities were not great, but it was probably dampered by the cool air and cold misty rain.

  • Comments: I have the race running long according to my GPS. Also, the packet pickup was not particularly convenient--hard to get to and from for out of towners. Finally, my race time and the official race time are off by about 7 minutes. I can't figure that one out to save my soul.

  • Comments: The only thing I would improve is to make the mile markers more obvious. I don't think this issue is specific to the National Half Marathon. I missed two of them, and I was looking for them. I think signs, neon lights, etc. should mark miles. I don't understand why it isn't possible to make the markets more obvious. I'm definately mentioning it on a post-race survey. The markers they had were white and looked like a traffic sign, so they were easy to miss.

  • Comments: Really enjoyed this race. The weather was probably a big limiter on crowd support and post race activities. The volunteers were awesome. I had a great race!
