  • Comments: absolutely beautiful course! Even though I found the bike course to be too challenging based on my abilities, I would not change it because climbing those hills is what gives you the breathtaking views. Lots of volunteers and spectators, actually this race easily had more spectators than any other race I've ever done. not just friends/family of the athletes but since this race goes through the heart of downtown plenty of locals and tourists grab a coffee and a lawn chair and cheer you on. the community support was far above average. the race organizers took advantage of all the most beautiful streets and trails so that you're constantly either on the lake, on the river or have a view of the water.

  • Comments: This race is the most organized I have done. I was very impressed! I am planning on coming back next year as I feel I have to prove to myself that I can compete on this course. All in all we had a great time on this trip. Everyone has bad races once in awhile and this was mine. By most stnadards this wasn't even a bad race. I just thought I should have done better. I am very blessed to get to participate in this sport and have such a wonderful family that supports me in this silly hobby.

  • Comments: The scenery is fantastic and the bike course is a real challenge. Water temp felt great and with good energy at the finish for this size race. Athletes were fantastic (at least is my time slots) great people to talk to.

  • Comments: Very good race with a tough, tough bike course. Transition was a mess without enough racks and some very rude people. All I can say is if you want a good transition spot get your lazy butt out of bed earlier! Don't come in late and expect me to be happy that you're parking your bike on top of my transitiion setup. The official race results had me 3rd in Clydesdale but the announced winner had an amazing swim time of 8 minutes! Obviously he started with his regular age group, 20 minutes ahead of when he should have. His official time was figured on when he should have started instead. No big deal, although the guy that should have received the 1st place ribbon and bottle of wine is probably a bit upset if he's noticed this! Overall good race, close to home, beautiful day...all good!

  • Comments: Fun course - they call it the "Scenic Challenge" and it is both. Spectators scattered throughout the bike were a welcome distraction on the hills. Cd'A park is a great start/finish area. Would have liked to have finished better in my age group, but met my goal of finishing my first Oly in under 3 hours.

  • Comments: The competition was very tough at this race. Almost all of the local pros and top triathletes were at this race. The swim was short, lulling me into a false sense of security that I had a good swim. I didn't do enough hill training to prepare for this race. I did finish strong in the run. This was my last serious race of the season. This was my best season in my 10 years of doing triathlons.

  • Comments: I heard that the swim bouy moved in shortening the swim course. My personal time validates that claim. That's not so good if you are evaluating swim times. Lots of fun in Coeur d'Alene. This is an Ironman town (now)!... it wasn't when I lived there 7 years ago. It is evident that the community cares about the athletes and the event. I was most impressed by the young and older adult groups. Good stuff. I still love Coeur d'Alene.

  • Comments: My bike computer read a little less than the advertised distance, but it did for IMCDA as well. I'll give the benefit of the doubt to whoever measures it as this is now a USAT approved race. The distances should be accurate. Lots of out of town folks here this year which was nice. Even someone from Tampa, FL. I was wondering how that flatlander enjoyed the hills!

  • Comments: Great race! Should be a USAT sanctioned event. There were a total of about 1200 athletes that competed today. I would bet this event becomes sanctioned in the next year or two.

  • Comments: Without the flat I would have finished at about 2:33 and roughly 45 places higher than I did overall. Still, it was a huge PR for me over the only other Oly race I've done, by about 30 minutes so I'm really pleased with it. The other thing the flat did for me was keep me out of the bling! In my AG (over 40 Clydesdale) 2:33 would have been good for 2nd place. As it was, I missed second by 2 minutes and third by 50 seconds. So, I wasn't too happy about that but it's all part of the game. I haven't ever flatted during a race before so I guess I was due. Just wish it would have been a race when it didn't cost me! Still had a great time, great weather, got to race with my brother and several of my friends and co-workers so it was all good!
