  • Comments: If I had one complaint about this race it was the lack of post race food and drink. I was able to get one chocolate milk and a bottle of water. I could not find anything else. I know they want to get everyone out of the finish line quickly, but they should have had some food available somewhere. The volunteers were fantastic in all sections of the race.

  • Comments: The fan support is second to none! This is the only full IM I have attended (as a fan and a participant) but I hear what others say, including the pro's. They all say this is the best course for fan support and course difficulty/variety. The run split data on the IM site seems to be way off. It doesn't match my Garmin at all. Some segments say I averaged a faster/slower pace than any mile in that segment according to my Garmin. The Garmin isn't perfect but it is pretty reliable on my run splits. Just an observation.

  • Comments: The combination of being able to sleep in my own bed and all the hills on the bike course make this an ideal race for me. I love doing this race, and I love to hear when other people enjoy Madison as much as us locals. Next time, I want to ride on Saturdays and run Sundays rather than usually the opposite. It might be warmer for running Sundays after church, but then I won't always have dead legs for riding in the late summer, so I can get a better ride. I also need to continue to work on my stomach issue. I'd like to eat a little more on the bike and maybe eat every other aid station rather than every third. Also, I might just try to gut out my stomach problems more...mind over matter. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to take advantage of the cool, cloudy weather as much as I would have liked (only the second cloudy race for IMWI and the first cloudy day where it wasn't raining). I was hoping, planning and pacing for a 5:05 bike and a 3:45 marathon to hopefully finish around 10:15,

  • Comments: This is a very tough, technical course. You need to train like crazy to do it justice. The volunteers and crowd support are second to none, however, which really helps you get through (although it dwindles significantly by the time I get to the finish). Ironman is really taking advantage of it's name, and the prices are getting out of control as people will pay whatever they ask. Hopefully by the time I make my comeback (assuming I do), the prices will be coming down, or I'll just stick with local races. I really did enjoy myself, though, and the Ironman distance teaches you just how strong and resilient of a person you are...

  • Comments: I am an IRONMAN. :) Molded in the hellfire of countless open water swims, 100 mile rides, and 3:30am training runs. Not to mention the inflated grocery bills, social sacrifices and soft-induced moments of intense anxiety + eating. Training has endured a year and finally, it's official and over (for now). I feel proud, humbled, thrilled, relieved, satisfied, thankful, and still in awe of what I accomplished on Sunday. I think my performance was terrific and training consistent. My mantra that day was, 'Let go... Surrender... Trust Me'. There were a lot of instances that made my stomach quiver and nerves unwind... those moments of self doubt, worry. After countless unsuccessful attempts to analyze my way through or wish them away, I simply had to let go. Near the end of the bike, the decision was clear: no amount of worrying would make this easier or me faster. So long as I gave it my all and did all I could do within my control, I would accept whatever was given me that day.

  • Comments: I know people get on WTC for alot of different things but I have to hand it to them they put on a first rate event here in Wisconsin. That's why everyone wants to do an Ironman. I felt as important as the professional athletes racing that day. The city of Madison and the surrounding counties embrace this event and the provide tremendous support to the athletes participating. The people in Wisconsin are awesome! The volunteers are so awesome I wish I could thank each and everyone of them personally. They all went way above and beyond to help me and ensure my every need was taken care of, just awesome. Thank you. I would highly recommended this race to anyone wanting a very well supported and challenging race. I had a great time in Madison and a lot of fun. I am definitely going to come back to Madison to do another one. I am also going to try and come back next year to support my three friends and fellow Asphalt Junkies Brenda, JoAnne and Dirk who are going to take on Madison next year.

  • Comments: It's Ironman Wisconsin baby! I just want to thank my family and friends for coming on and supporting me through this. Thank you volunteer's and all the other people out their cheering 2500+ crazies onto their dreams. A special thanks goes out to my wife and kid for putting up with all the crazy training hours I put in on my weekends off. Without you two I would be lost. Also a shout out to you the BT community. There were questions I asked along the last year or two that were answered and really helped out as well. "Christopher Beveroth, YOU ARE AN IRONMAN!!!"

  • Comments: It was everything I could ask for for my first IM. The volunteers were outstanding. The crowd support was so motivating and exciting. I promised my wife I would not do another IM in 2014 but instead focus on short course local races. So I won't be doing this race again next year, but I highly recommend it to anyone, it was a fantastic experience! Like everyone my first goal was to finish with a smile, but deep down I had in my head that I wanted to finish under 14 hours. I was able to accomplish both goals, what more could I ask for!

  • Comments: Two years ago this time I was having a new neck put in. I feel like I've come a long way since then and am proud of my attempt. I'm working on a new goal and plan to work on core strength, swim technique, more time on the bike and will come through a champion in my next attempt. I loved all of my training and wouldn't trade it for anything in the world! I'm blessed to have the ability to do the sport I love and will continue to grow and improve!

  • Comments: Of the IM's and other 140.6 events i have done this was the hardest, and most satisfying. I felt i earned my time and enjoyed the day. This event ranks at the top for support and atmosphere and i would reco it to anyone, just be prepared.

  • Comments: Volunteers Awesome! Fan support--have not been to another IM distance but i gotta believe that dynamics of location of bike and run in relationship to city and campus make it amazing. The race report has a lot of little nit picky details to remind me next time in 2014. I found reading over my old races helped a lot in preparing for this one. Usually im not a "minute lost here or there" kind of guy, and worry about how FAST my transition times are over the course of a 12-13 hr day. Im never gonna get a kona slot or be in the hunt for any age group awards. My goals are on a more "internal" or "personal" level than a time (although sub 12 was icing on the cafe. This was the most satisfying race so far... A goal was set, and ultimately achieved and the process of preparing for it didn't destroy my family or alienate me from my kids (as one is 15 and the other 12....sometime the less they see of their Dad....the better). I think ive stressed less over missed workouts, tried to make them

  • Comments: I love IM WI. It's hard not to when you live in Verona on the bike course. I will be back, stronger and ready to get my 12:XX in '15.
