  • Comments: A fun, little race that is very well organized. Unfortunately, the owner announced that this may be the last year for all of his races in the SW US, about 8 per year. He has been running them for over 30 years. The Mountain Man at Flagstaff celebrated its 30th anniversay.

  • Comments: "The toughest race you'll ever love" I vowed to do the half last year after finishing the OLY and I'm glad I did...Not sure if I'll ever do it again, (although I do think I should redeem myself for the poor performance) but I will most definitely be up here for the OLY at least. Still to this day, one of my favorite courses ever...

  • Comments: A small, yet fun organized event in the cool, high altitude mountains of AZ at 7,200 ft. I want to thank the following folks: 1. My family a) wife for tolerating (albeit failing to understand why I tortue myself) my hobby b) my 4 yo daughter... who's asked me to play in the middle of a trainer session, or when I limping around - I hope that it makes sense = who knows? but, I still try to play "got'ya" or "swing me" after a long training day,... LOL c) my parents - they always support me 2. Spiritually supportive friends in Ajo 3. Coach Mike Ricci 4. New triathlon friends - Elliott, Bryan, Dan, Jasen, Patrick, Reid and more

  • Comments: I'm happy with the swim and bike splits, knowing that I can easily improve and shave off another 5 minutes, BUT got to work on the run. Overall, it was a well managed race by MM, I'll try it again next year. This the last year for me in this AG, 40 - 44. I'm graduating in 2013. I started this sport too late in the AG, and too late after 15 years of lower physical activity, too much catching up to do, there are some fast MOFO's out there. Congrats to all the finishers, this sport is beautiful in its pain, everyone is in the same boat.

  • Comments: Only complaints I have are: Traffic, I had 2 really close calls on the course. Some of the drivers seemed really PO'd at the racers and didn't give an inch of road. Security, I know its a small race but no security in transition is no bueno in my opinion. Anyone could've walked out bikes with no questions asked. Other than those two perfect race.

  • Comments: I am so done with this race course. The bumps on the Mormon Lake loop road (bike) and the traffic on Lake Mary Rd (run) really got to me this time. Otherwise it's a great race on a tough course. Well organized and supported.

  • Comments: I stayed really positive this whole race. I made a point of not complaining, and I think that really paid off. This sport is way too mental to start wallowing. I can't believe it took me so long to figure that out.

  • Comments: I had some issues with the organization last year and sent some comments about the sprint 4 weeks ago to the race director about the lack of traffic control. I must say, they did an AWESOME job today! I was very impressed with how organized they were, well staffed, great volunteers, and the traffic control was fantastic. As always, this is such a beautiful course, anyone who isn't turning their head constantly is really missing out. Great job guys!

  • Comments: The Mountain Man course is beautiful, except for the traffic on Lake Mary Rd. I'm used to running in the quiet woods. The trucks and RVs drove me nuts.

  • Comments: My inspiration to compete and complete these types of events comes alot from my Dad. I know that this is one of those races that he would love to have heard about and the whole town would know about. It was an amazing, inspirational experience to take him with me on this one, made even better by the fact I got to do the race with Jen.

  • Comments: Finished, got 2nd in my age group, discovered that my new aero helmet was too tight and spent much of the bike trying to make it loser, just trying to get rid of my draft entries.
