  • Comments: TBF does a good job setting up and running their races. The only issue overall, and this was also mentioned by others I talked to, was that the run is just too difficult--especially when its hot. I have done the sprint races at this course, and they are a blast, so I knew while it would be tougher, I would still enjoy myself. A little back ground of the venue: the race is held at Rancho Seco Park in Herald, Ca--Rancho Seco is actually the name of the Nuclear power plant that is there--It was decommissioned many years ago, after constant breakdowns and spewing money...There has always been jokes about the lake, and the possible radioactivity within (for the record, no mutations yet...). The Park itself is home to the man made lake for fishing, swimming, and racing; camping areas, hiking trails around the lake, and the exotic animal sanctuary...Yes, there is a former nuclear power plant, a camping area, and an exotic animals sanctuary....and we race there. The sanctuary seems (I've only

  • Comments: Goal was to go sub 2:15 for this race. Unfortunately, after the swim, I knew this was going to be a difficult task! I gave my best effort on the bike and run to recover, but it just wasn't in the cards for the day. Somehow I made a podium finish with this performance! However, the field was roughly 100 people lighter than last year. And, despite the swim, my time was just over a minute faster than last year.

  • Comments: I actually like olympic distance Tri!! I can't believe I did it!! Can't wait to do the next one! I though I would finish around 3hours - 3 1/2hours. I didn't think I would be this close to 3hours!!

  • Comments: Another great TBF Event. These guys are always fun (great announcers) and it's a party atmosphere at the finish. Every racer is recognized from first to last! Highly recommend.

  • Comments: My first olympic distance triatlon (and 2nd period) I feel really good about the whole experience. I think I trained well for this (minus some shortcuts in the bike training) and it paid off. Compared to my first triathlon in April, my body recovered much quicker. Besides finishing, my goal was to be somewhere close to 2:30 and hitting 2:34 was close enough. Can't wait to see the splits when they're posted. Looking forward to the next challenge!

  • Comments: Great course for newbies, because the resevoir is warm and shallow in many parts. More importantly, the water is totally flat! Great organization, and nice fellow competitors. Good vibe overall. Would recommend it to anyone interested.

  • Comments: VERY HOT race. Majority of racers complained of not taking enough liquid on the bike, and just about everyone was suffering on the run. Except for the run, I had an excellent race. Great FIRST Olympic!

  • Comments: Good race, but not a standout for being good or bad. The race photographer left the run section early and didn't get a bunch of us. With the heat, one more water stop on the run would have been nice. Water at the bike turnaround wouldn't have hurt. There was one v in the bike course that was unmarked that I didn't remember seeing going the other direction. I got going the right way.
