  • Comments: Not a bad race, not a great race. I'll probably do it again. Overall negatives for me are the technical bike course, poor directions on the course, and the gross water in the pond. Positives are the easy, uncrowded swim (even though I sucked in it), a challenging bike course (something to work on), and a pretty nice run. Good organization (minus the bike course turns) and overall setup, as always.

  • Comments: The post race activities were supposedly plentiful, but I didn't get to enjoy any of them because of my finishing time (all packed up by the time I was done). I was disappointed because I got in before the cut off, and feel like I should have had an opportunity to join the activities.

  • Comments: Love Setup Events races. Big thanks to my wife for supporting me going into this race, coming off my injury I had lots of mental stuff going on... big thanks goes to her for believing in me.

  • Comments: My favorite Sprint course from a course perspective. Challenging, but I keep coming back for more. Very happy with my time improvement (5+ minutes faster than last year). Very happy overall with this race. 8/24 in a good field and my ranking across disciplines was fairly even. Lost 1-2 minutes in the transitions, but that wouldn't have made a difference in the age group placing, but room for improvement for next year. Also brought the run ranking down closer to the swim and the bike on a relative basis. If I can stay healthy, this Fall's marathon training should close that gap even more.

  • Comments: Another awesome race by SetupEvents. Shaved over 6 minutes off last year's race, most on the swim (almost 5 min.). With swim technique work and being more careful drinking the bike, my times keep getting better. Culpeper was my first tri 2 yrs. ago and it's still my favorite.

  • Comments: The Setup people were really great in getting me into this one. Super appreciative and enjoyed a very well organized race. Will probably be doing this one every year... maybe I'll learn to love the run here.

  • Comments: I would have liked the cold drinks at the finish line. In my post-race haze, I couldn't find them. Swim is fine if you don't mind the vegetation; bike is nice and rolling and beautiful; run is HARD. A nice little race.

  • Comments: I didn't have high hopes for this race. My prep for it was horrendous and I did just about everything you should NOT do pre-race. I was a mental wreck, hadn't eaten, and hadn't slept well for the last couple days. I got to the race site around 8:15 pm and drove the bike course. I saw most of it before it got dark which was good. But, I hadn't really eaten much that day due to travel and angst. Mom and I found a grocery store to pick up dinner and breakfast. Dinner was chicken salad & pasta salad at 10:15 pm. I went to bed at 11 pm but didn't sleep well (for the 3rd night in a row). Breakfast was at 5 am - bagel with 3/4ths of a cup of greek yogurt with blueberries, chocolate milk, and a small cup of coffee. I also ate a banana around 6:45 am. I was fairly lethargic and ambivalent about the race. Fortunately, I had done a good job packing my gear and got set up fairly quickly. I kept things to a minimum to make transition easier. Did I mention that I hate my bike???

  • Comments: Great race organization, although they need to keep better control of the cars on the course. I gotta spend more time swimming to get my technique down. Still, considering last year's Culpeper was my first (Swim=28:19; Bike=1:07:29; Run=31:48), progress is being made.

  • Comments: I was very impressed with this event's management. Setup does a great event and given the conditions, they did a great job. By the time awards came around it was pouring rain and we were shoe horned under a pavilion. Hopefully next year we have better weather and I am better prepared for the event. The local master's swim program should be at the top of my list.

  • Comments: Last year (swim killed the rest of my race, first OWS) Swim 28:03 (46/50 AG, 332/338 Overall) Bike 59:29 (36/50 AG, 228/338 Overall) Run 30:56 (41/50 AG, 287/338 Overall) So very happy with my improvements from last year, especially since I had no real plan for this race. Still a lot to work on but good to see overall improvements since this is my last Tri of the year. Maybe get one more in between now and Lonestar HIM in April 2010 Now onto running and Road racing...
