  • Comments: This was a great race despite the cancelled swim and shortened bike course. Last year the weather was excellent and the swim and bike were included. It was great to have the triathlon (duathlon) start in the age category wave. It felt like a high school cross country race where I could see exactly who I was competing against!

  • Overall course based on my ability: Too easy

  • Comments: Unfortunately the swim was canceled due to 6-8 stormy surf from a Nor'Easter. Then the bike got shortened from 10 miles to barely 4 miles due to flooding and winds. Fun to race in a Nor'Easter, but bummed I missed out on a full tri. Can't wait till the spring!

  • Comments: ANY race with my buddy Jay is a great race! Fortunately or unfortunately, CHTD may not happen for us in '10. Why? HIM and IM distance events are taking place in September, 2010. It will be a great year! By the way, announced to Jay this weekend Kim and I are expecting our 3rd child in 2010. :)

  • Comments: This is the second time I've done this race, but the first time I was able to swim (last time got cancelled due to heavy surf). It's a fun local race. Good spectators, lots of volunteers, and I even like the t-shirt. I love the area, so I'll definitely do this race again.

  • Comments: The ocean is the ocean - not the most fun type of swimming for me, but the bike and run courses were very good. One major drawback was the half mile run from the swim exit to the first transition area.

  • Comments: Was unnerved by the lack of life guard presence in the water and even on shore. Only two on surf boards for 408 swimmers. Also had us swimming against the current after telling us during the First-timers meeting that we'd be with the current and that its a great swim for first timers... YEAH RIGHT! Experienced swimmers were complaining.

  • Comments: They ran a good race. It was a bummer about the swim cancellation as I really wanted to see how I would fare. But making it a Du suits my strengths and makes me a podium threat outright. This was my last tri for the year and gave me a sense of what I'll be doing next year as it is almost all short/fast stuff. 7th overall, really finished 3rd in my AG, but awarded 2nd because the guy who was overall winner was also in my AG. Oh well, hardware either way!

  • Comments: This whole week has been a mess. Kids sick, work crazy, husband nursing serious road rash and my entire reason of practicing an open water swim canned by a tropical storm. Plus a fun family weeking of camping at the park was cancelled b/c of the weather. So I was pretty much in a funk this morning. But I'm happy to be home safe and sound and I'm done whinning! Next race: Baltimore Marathon :-)

  • Comments: My first spring tri turned into a spring du. The swim was canceled this morning due to strong rip currents :( I was extremely disappointed. I really wanted to see what I could do for the swim. Oh well, there's always the spring to look forward to. I really liked the course but still don't think I'll do this one again. Heard someone else say the swim "pretty much gets cancelled every other year," and I don't feel like dealing with that again.

  • Comments: A very nice race. And on time, which I really liked. The idea of the cash prizes afterwards was nice and probably kept some people around for a bit. The long run from the ocean to transition is something that requires a little more planning on behalf of the athlete, but shouldn't be considered a negative.

  • Comments: Due to scheduling conflicts I may miss this race next year, but it is one I will set my sights on again most likely in 2009 with hopes of breaking 1:30!! I MUST ALSO GIVE A SHOUT OUT TO MY FRIEND BRIAN AND HIS FAMILY FOR BEING SUCH GREAT HOSTS FOR THIS RACE, BUT ALSO TO MY "COACH" BRIAN FOR BEING THERE THROUGH THE LAST 11 MONTHS AND 29 DAYS OF TRAINING FOR IT. SINCE 10/9/06 WE HAVE BOTH BEEN WORKING HARD TO IMPROVE AND IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO DO IT ALONE! MANY THANKS BRIAN!

  • Comments: First wave (ladies) started early or they just didn't wait for everyone. Roads were not busy at all which was nice. 1 water station is fine for a 5km run, but maybe a few more volunteers so they don't run out of water when a larger group runs past.

  • Comments: Good fun race. I don't know whether I'd compete in this race again as it's hit or miss regarding the swim during this time of the year. When you've prepared for a tri and end up doing a du, its disappointing.

  • Comments: A memorable first Sprint Tri. With only 2 months of preparation due to a herniated disc in my back, I was proud to have been able to finish. With off-season training I will be back with a vengeance next year.

  • Comments: There was loads of help out on the course. Traffic was controlled by police. Thanks, guys. You had to have done several races in the series to qualify for the prize drawings. The photographer didn't stick around for back of the packers at each segment. The post race refreshments were real artery cloggers.

  • Comments: It was an amazing experience competing in my first Anniversary race. Finally, I had a race where I could actually measure my progress over the past 12 months. The run times had dropped from 12:10/mile to 8:30/mile. The bike speed went up from 18.5 to 22.4. An 18:50 improvement in time over the course of 12 months. This is when the year's worth of effort pays off. When getting up on those early mornings comes back. When the hours spent on the bike is shown. For my efforts, I even walked away with 2nd place in my Clyde category. What made it most special was that I didn't get 2nd by only being 1 of 2 or 3, but by actually hunting down and passing a competitor, and showing that I was the stronger person, willing to suffer more, on that day.
